I’m a fan of organization. I love order, especially in my scrap space. That’s why I’m drawn to the ScrapOnizer systems. Very cool products. When I had the chance to visit the ScrapOnizer booth at CHA, I loved what I saw. Not only did their team add more incredible products to their line, but they also displayed some clever ideas for using the organization systems in creative ways. They’ve definitely taken everyday storage items to a new level. In this video, I’ll show you my favorite creative ideas from the ScrapOnizer booth, including ways to create party favors and make your own acrylic albums.

If you’re looking for even more ideas for organization, be sure to check out our March issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine, which is on newsstands now. In this special “organization issue,” you’ll find ideas for organizing your supplies, photos, sketches, thoughts and even journaling. And on our website this month, you’ll find even more ideas for getting organized. For example, our editorial team shares their favorite organization tips, and Beth Opel put together a month’s worth of ideas for getting your space organized. You can even take a quiz to find out your organization “personality type.” I’m “Über Good Enough.” Curious what that means and what your organization type is? Check out the quiz here.
And what would a “CHA Highlights” post be without the chance to win a goodie bag of products released at CHA? (Well, it would still be a great post, but contests always make them even better, right?) For the chance to win one of three goodie bags, simply leave a comment on this post by February 20 and let me know what types of organization tips you’d be most interested in learning about in Creating Keepsakes. Easy!

I need some tips on orginazation between where my scrapping takes place at home and when I go to crops. Easy transport of scrap stuff, and less re-orginazation everytime I return, everything then needs to be packed away.
I need some tips on quick, easy and affordable storage. I am a stay at home mom and 1 income doesn’t allow for me to purchase the nicer storage options out there. I loved Amanda’s tips in the Feb CK. More ideas like that would be awesome!
I need some tips for organising my chipboard. It seems to get messy the quickest!
oh, let’s see . . . . organzing as things are PARTIALLY used up, and then not used again for awhile, ideally, it has a place, and goes back to it, but at some point, certain types of supplies should get “demoted” to, well, let’s say I’m talking about a particular sheet of alphabet stickers here, and lets say it’s not super specific to a holiday or anything, but it’s not a plain solid color either.
What I’m thinking is, past a certain point of use, is, for me, it goes into the “Random Alpha” file/wherever that part of my organization is. Times you want to mix it up w/your letters, or use just one Cap at the beginning of a paragraph, or do a ransom note style, or one of the myriad of other ideas y’all have given us over the years for using up thinned out sheets of alpha stickers/die cuts/etc. Heck, There’s all sorts of neat ideas for using the NEGATIVES, if it’s the type of alpha to have/leave a negative on the peel off background.
Anyway, that’s just alphas.
Say you’re running low on a staple, like antiqued brass or pewter look brads – instead of filing that back away, I’d want an area to highlight HEY you’re getting low on one of your STAPLES (not that I use that on everything, but as an example, say).
See, there’s two examples, of two far different ways I, ME, MYSELF, might handle what to do when using up supplies . . . . it depends on if it’s a staple, if it’s a new discovery, if it’s a hey i received it in a swap and I kinda like it, and it works for what I’m doing, but I probably won’t buy it again unless it seems JUST what I need again kind of thing . . . . you know?
Obviously it’s an individual process, but this organization thing . . . . ideas on, well, as supplies approach the 75%-90% used up mark, maybe I’ve given you an article idea lol! my email’s on my blog profile, if you want any other thoughts on that subject, heh.
On the swap note, organizing that stuff can be a prob too . . . . after some time, I have to decide if I haven’t used it, is it time to put it up as a blog giveaway goodie, etc., or also my accidental second duplicate purchases, or other stuff . . . Clearance frenzy purchases (not necessarily bought in a purchasing frenzy, but buying a few items for 90% off knowing they are very well quality items and that my blog readers might enjoy them even if I know they’re not me, well those stay by the computer, since they belong to the blog . . . . )
ahem anyway I went off course, lol.
I read the above comments and then forgot what I was going to say for a minute there!
I’m fairly organised and especially like my craft area to be that way. Something that could be better organised for me is my die cuts (most bought as part of a range). They don’t keep well with the matching patterned paper. I keep them in a little folder but keep forgetting about them. I have loose chipboard pieces that are the same.
Don’t use them very much but would like it to be displayed/stored that I could look through it easily but also out of the way!
I agree with the first and fourth comments! And I’d especially like to see organisational tips for small spaces. I live in a one-room flat and my supplies are scattered in every nook and cranny and not easily accessible!
I am terrible at organizing things. I come by it honest my mom is also terrible and the sad thing is I am passing it on to my daughter. I don’t know what to do with those scraps of paper that are just to good to throw away but really not big enough to do anything with. I just hate to throw anything that I MIGHT be able to use away. Maybe more idea’s for very small piece’s of paper would be nice. Thanks
I don’ have any actual area dedicated to scrapbooking. All of my things are thrown into a basket. So I would like organizational tips for small spaces.
I’d love to see more about great inexpensive finds for organization
that anyone would be able to pick up at local craft stores, dollar
stores, discount stores, etc. I think that many of us need more inexpensive
ideas rather than entire organiztion systems that may be beyond most
budgets. Thanks so much.

I am constantly looking for visible and accessible organization ideas. I need to see my stuff in order to use it, but that can look messy if you don’t do it right, so I would love great ideas for highly visible storage that is easy to get to! That is what I use and what I need! I have some systems that work well in my scrapbook room, but others that really need some work!
I loved this article. Thanks for the video inspiration on the organizers. I love the way they used the clear stamp organizer to make an acrylic album. I would like to learn of ways to organize small scraps of paper and small punch out tags etc. Thanks a bunch!
I think I need the most help organizing my letters and rubon embellishments. They always just get put in a tote or something and then I don’t remember what I have and forget to use them.
I definately need VISIBLE orginization–if it’s hidden I forget about it.
also tips on how to use wall space more effectively (with shelves, etc)
One of my all time favorite articles from CK was from years ago, about someone that had all of her scrapbook stuff in an armoire in her family dining room. The simple reality is that not everyone has a full room to devote to scrapbooking, and I LOVED seeing how someone incorporated her hobby into her home without having STUFF everywhere! I would like to see more of that… smaller spaces, maybe not even dedicated spaces but how people organize their products in an area of their home that isn’t dedicated to just scrapbooking/paper crafting.
I like the article where you show a person’s scrap room/area. I agree with the comment above…seeing smaller rooms is more practical.
I am so not organized even though I have alot of storage options. I need more ideas on how to store partially used embellishments, as well as little scraps of patterned paper – I just can’t throw them away as you never know when you might need them for a card/layout! If there is a way to see them and still looked organized that would help me the most.
How about organizing a small space? I currently have about 6 feet of a wall in a room. I’d love to see some advice on how to make the most of my space!
Organizing for a move would be a great topic to cover.
I would like organizing tips for keeping items from matching lines stored together. Currently I use file folders to hold matching/coordinating papers and stickers together but that doesn’t work well for holding bulkier embellishments. I store them elsewhere and then forget what I have that goes with what.
I would like to see organization for embellishments. This is the one that I struggle with most. Thanks for the chance for the giveaway!
I would love to see the best ways of organizing srap ribbon, papers and die cuts in an oncoming issue.
I would love to hear about a way to organize my scraps. That’s still an ongoing quest for me!
I agree with the others that it would be nice to see some scrap “areas” as opposed to rooms since not everyone had a dedicated space. I keep most of my supplies in an ikea expedit shelf in our family/dining room. so some ideas on keeping shelves full of stuff looking nice and clutter free would be nice. I do love those clear folders for stamp storage, and the clear album out of them was just too cute!
Would love to learn about the inexpensive options that are available out there? In today’s economy, everyone’s looking for ways to save. Thanks!
I LOVED seeing the March 2009 CK issue with a NEW face…Connie Dunn…and her scrap cottage/garage! I’d like to see more ideas on how to organize in a small space and make it efficient (use up the space available: up the wall, under the table) in a variety of ways!
I could really use some tips on organizing for a very small workspace. We’re in a fairly small apartment at the moment, so the dining room has become my workshop. I manage to keep most of the stuff in baskets or small drawered organizers that are portable, so that if we need the table, I can have it cleared in fairly short order. But I’m sure there must be other, better ways to organize a workshop that must, out of necessity, sometimes operate like a M*A*S*H unit.
i would love to see some organizational tips for categorizing and storing digital photos on your computer.
I would love some tips for organizing various odds and ends like die-cuts (the ones that come in the 12×12 sheets and get punched out but not used on a layout), Doodlebug frills, loose chipboard pieces, etc.
My tools!!! They’re all in a drawer and a pain (sometimes literally!!!) to dig through!
For those with CB alphas – I found a cute & inexpensive way to store them. I was at Tuesday Morning and found some adorable open jewelry boxes. They each had 9 slots/boxes in them. The boxes were decorated with purple material & bling! (wahoo!!). They were also on clearance (another HUGE wahoo!). I got three of them and am able to sort m CB & GB by alpha now. Super easy!
The hardest thing for me is to STOP organizing and start scrapping! And to get rid of stuff. It really doesn’t matter if a paper is old – if I liked it then I probably still like it now.
I have so many books from CK I can’t even count them. My favorite is always the most recent. For me that is “50 Moments..”. Why would you not love it. Let’s just begin with the cover. How inviting. You see the loving and playful relationship between Lisa and Sage. And on each page you experience life visually and emotionally through words and pictures. Wow!
Opps! I left this comment on the wrong day. Oh well…you get the idea right?!
I am looking for organizing tips for sticker sheets. I don’t have the space to clip them up on display or anything that takes up a lot of space. Like others I am on a budget too! I have the cropinstyle PSB and I’m totally out of room plus the taller sheets never fit in so I couldn’t close the album up..ever. Any suggestions?
I need a way to store my things so that I can easily see them and access them. My biggest organizational nightmare is patterned paper…do I keep it in the kits I get each month, by manufacturer, theme, colors? It makes me itch just thinking about it.
I’d like some tips on organising scraps of pp and cs, and stamps – particularly aimed at keeping the stamps accessible so I use them more. I can’t seem to work out a good solution for this.
I always enjoy articles where you see how other people use their scrap space.
I love to organize things myself. I would like to know more of where to get affordable containers for embellishments.
I am interested in creating organization containers with used or found items. My reduced budget requires that I be creative. One idea I’ve had is to use Costco spice containers to store my collections of small items like buttons. Any additional ideas along that line would be a great help.
I have difficulty getting rid of my scrapbook supplies. I must purge before I am able to organize. Help!!
I would love organization tips for storing rubber stamps. I have so many wood mounted rubber stamps and I don’t know the best way to store them for easy access and would love some ideas. Thanks for any and all tips
)
As a newbie into digital scrapping, I am really struggling with a GOOD way to organize my digital elements. One that makes sense and is still easy to locate things. Thanks for any tips!
I would love to see an article on how to organize stamps, mounted and non-mounted. I love both kinds, but I need a good way to store them so I can see what I have. Also, I would love ideas on how to store small embellishments.
The best way to organize paper…I always have problems with that.
How to group things together. Do you pull kits apart? Do you keep manufacturers products together?
I would love to see an article on small scrap spaces & how to organise them. I don’t have my own room (still dreaming) & need to find cheap & easy ways to store my stuff. Also how to group things together?? in kits, by designer????
Organizing using what you own (like many others I can’t afford to purchase a system), utilizing a small, shared space (ex. the dining room), portable storage, packing light for a crop.

There is evidently a lot for me to study outside of my books. Thanks for the important read,
