mou-sahaHi everyone,

I’m Mou Saha, member of the CK’s 2009 Dream Team of designers. I have been blogging for almost two years now, but I’m still nervous posting here today :) So, I’ll stop talking and do what I do best – create! Come join me in making a simple baby card and tag.

Baby Card and Tag - Mou Saha

It’s almost spring and that means many new beginnings. For my projects, I chose floral patterned papers and the theme is babies. Today, I’m going back to the basic supplies such as templates, punches, letter stickers, etc. I also want to show you that it is very easy to translate generic supplies to create themed projects.

Let’s start with the card:

Project Supplies

Step-by-step how-to:

  • 1. Trim an 8.5″ x 6.25″ piece from the Raining paper or blue cardstock. Fold in half to make a 4.25″ x 6.25″ card.
  • 2. Trim a cream cardstock to 4″ x 6″ inches.
  • 3. Take the template with the baby bottle and place it over the Morning paper and trace the bottle shape with a pencil.

  • 4. Cut the bottle out with a craft knife or scissors.
  • 5. Spell out your sentiment with letter stickers
  • 6. Attach the bottle at about the center of the cream cardstock above the sentiment with the adhesive tape runner.
  • 7. If you wish, you can further personalize the card with a handwritten (or stamped) message below the sentiment.
  • 8. Sew a small white button toward the top left side of the bottle.
  • 9. Attach the finished cardstock piece to the blue card base.

For the tag:

  • 1. Trim a 2.5″ x 5.5″ piece from the cream cardstock and a 2.75″ x 6.25″ piece from the Raining paper or blue cardstock.
  • 2. Follow the same steps as the card with a baby carriage template.
  • 3. Sew buttons to make the wheels.
  • 4. Stamp To: and From: using alphabet stamps. I used one of the dollar alphabet sets from Michaels.
  • 5. For an added touch, you can use a border punch at the bottom of the cream cardstock.
  • 6. Punch a hole at the top, pass a ribbon through and tie into a bow.

  5. Too cute! Thanks for the idea. I used to have several templates but gave them away because I never used them (thought they were cheesy). You’ve opened my eyes…a lot cheaper than die cuts but same principle. Thanks again!

  8. Hello Mou :)
Congratulations on joining the team. Your post was fantastic and just in the nick of time for me. I will be going to my cousin’s baby shower in 2 weeks and needed an idea for a cute gift tag. So thank you for the beautiful Idea. Love your work. :D

  10. Great card and tag. Where did you find the stencils that were used?

  11. Love what you did with those stencils, Mou. Super duper cute cards.

Karen – the templates are made by 3M/Scotch. Not sure where all you can get them, but they are available on ebay.
