In our Creativity Issue this month, we wanted to make sure every article was packed with ideas to help boost your scrapbooking creativity. Once the magazine was printed, we all wanted to start scrapbooking too! Here are a few little-known facts about this month’s issue:
1. On pages 69-70, you’ll see a bucket-load of creative ideas! This is a lot of ideas for one person to think up. You’ll remember there was a similar list for photo ideas in January’s “Project 365″ article. In order to come up with the best ideas possible, these lists are a collaborative effort from everyone on the Editorial team. Everyone contributes their own ideas, and in this case, Managing Editor, Brittany Beattie, compiled this list to make sure we had no duplicate ideas and to make sure we had a variety of ideas.

2. In Allison Davis’s article on pages 81-86, you’ll notice a few children’s illustrations throughout. Those illustrations were drawn by Ben McBride, son of Assistant Editor, Joannie McBride. Aren’t they adorable?

3. On page 122 in “Brian’s Top 5,” you’ll notice the exciting news that scrapNfonts now has many beautiful digital brushes. For our CK readers, scrapNfonts is now offering some FREE brushes! Download them here.
4. “Seasonal Solutions” this month (pages 22-28) focused on what it means to be a mother. Here are few extra insights into the contributors who created two of those layouts:
Emily Higbee: “I had to print the main photo for my layout twice because one of my kids snuck into the room and rubbed a carrot all over the first one. Sigh” Ahh, now that woman knows what it’s like to be a mother!
Rebecca Shogren: “I love the title of my layout because it describes by feelings perfectly! Being a mom is tough, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything!”
I’d love to know what inspired your creativity this issue! Just leave a comment by Friday, April 24, about what inspired you most in the May issue, and I’ll choose three winners randomly to receive some scrapbooking treats to help your creativity! Megan Hoeppner will announce the winners Monday the 27th on the Weekly Warm Up.
You’ll also want to check out the online exclusives this month here for more creative inspiration.

I am most inspired to add my DS artwork to his scrapbook. The child pics above are sooooo cute!!! Thanks CK!
I loved the “Color by Theme” article in the May issue of CK! I am always drawn to certain color themes, and it’s true…they really do set a tone and enhance a mood! I also loved the “Scrapbook with Your Kids” article. The little fingerprint hearts are soooo adorable…I can’t wait to do this with my two boys!
I really liked Candace Stringham’s article “Camera Fun.” I thought the scavenger hunt’s were quite creative and I’m having my daughter complete one about her college campus and town. The whole “Inspiration: 100 Creativity Starters” is a great help; I’ve looked over it several times for ideas already. Great ideas this issue!
Honestly? The whole magazine inspired me! This was a great issue! If I HAVE to pick one article? Oh, maybe the circle punch one? I love finding new and creative ways to use ‘old’ standbys.
My favorite standing article is always Ms. Jennifer Mcguire’s technique corner!!
Love all the ideas she gives. Favorite this month is the journal help article.
Thank you,
Scrappyleigh
I liked a lot of the articles this month! But the circle punch was a good one. I have so many of them but I never use them. It inspired me to pull them out and I used them on a couple cards!
I loved Allison Davis’ article about scrapbooking with your kids, especially the part about creating embellishments such as fingerprint hearts. We’ve already created fingerprint hearts, four leaf clovers and flowers to use as embellishments on scrap pages.
I really enjoyed the Tools & Techniques article showcasing circle punches. I particularly like the Blessings and Thinking of You cards. Such a cute way to make waves! I will definitley be scraplifting these! Thanks Jennifer!
I was happy to see the stamping ideas on pages 93-97. I have collected quite a few stamps and am always happy to find new ways to use them! I also really enjoy everything Ali Edwards adds to the magazine, she reminds me that all the little day to day things are just as important/interesting to document as the big things.
I always love Jen McGuire’s words of wisdom.
I love using colorful ribbon scraps to make sun rays.
Camera fun and the stamping ideas. I think I always forget to use my stamps.
I loved the color by theme section of the magazine- there were so many things I hadn’t thought of before. Thanks for the constant inspiration!
I loved the article about scrapbooking your child’s artwork. With a three year old at home, I have a ton of paintings, drawings, and other random pieces of artwork that I want to keep, and your article was great inspiration! I was a blog winner back in February and received my goodies a couple of weeks ago. Thank you! I loved the Basic Grey paper!
Great issue! I always enjoy Jennifer’s article every month.
I liked the whole issue, but I loved the design article. There was so much good stuff to read in it!
Scrapbooking my child’s art…..I need to have them make the embellishments for my pages!
I was and still am inspired by the scrapbooking by color theme. I was so inspired that I made an entire mini photo book using all things pink. It just so happened I had a fresh pile of baby shower photos of my cousin Anna. It work out perfectly and I will be sending this gift to her today. Thanks for the inspiration I loved it!
I love the layout by Amy LeJeune in the reader gallery. The enlarged focal photo really caught my eye. Her layout is everything I want mine to be: full of photos, simple, and beautiful.
Stamping ideas!! I collect them but hardly ever use them.
My fav. is Jennifer McGuires technique corner. Jen always inspires me with her creativity and wonderful projects.
Thanks and have a great day!
I love Becky’s Sketches. I love her clean, classic style.
I was inspired by much of the May issue. I think what inspired me the most was the Techniques by Jennifer McGuire. She has inspired me to drag out those circle punches that have been sitting in my drawer and make something adorable with them!
I always enjoy sketches. Have to say, though, that I did not spend a lot of time with this issue and won’t. All Mother’s Day, all the time throughout the whole issue. We lost our child. I realize this is personal to me, but there you are.
I always find inspiration on every page of CK but if I had to pick just one article it would be Design Cheat Sheets. I loved the combination of sketches, tips and comments by former Hall of Famers.
Wow–the May issue had soo many things to inspire me! I loved the Tips and Techniques ideas, also the stamping ideas. Using more circles on my pages was inspired by the article about using circle punches and Lisa Bearnson’s article about photographing a day of family life was also terrific! Keep up the good work–I have so many ideas in my head I’m spinnin’!
The seasonal solution really inspired me to scrap a layout on motherhood. Expecting a baby in two weeks, It was the perfect time to reflect on my journey.. I love the end result and I know I will cherish this layout with my thoughts when I look back. Thank you!
I have used the circle punch because of Jennnifer’s article! Great ideas!
As always, it’s packed with such fun ideas! I loved the scavenger hunt! We always have our favorite places and I would have never thought to scrapbook them! Thanks for the great inspiration!
I love Jennifer McGuire’s article this month. I can’t wait to try some of her tips out.
Every month, this one included, I love Jennifer McGuire’s technique article. I am SO not a technique scrapper so I find her craftiness very inspiring!
