Happy Cinco de Mayo!

¡Hola, Scrappy Senoritas (and Senors)!

You may have gathered by now that we at Creating Keepsakes are a festive bunch. We’re down for a party for any reason whatsoever. Even though Cinco de Mayo (5th of May in Spanish) is not a US holiday, we’re happy to honor our Mexican friends today and join in their celebration.

First, a bit of a history lesson. Cinco de Mayo commemorates the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, when a band of untrained Mexican commoners, led by Benito Juarez, defeated Napoleon III’s French forces to maintain their autonomy and independence. Underdogs, unity, patriotism–these are things we can all get behind!

 Two of our favorite companies for Spanish-language scrap supplies are Spanish Memories and Arte Latin-Oh!  Both carry Spanish-specific products as well as hip stamps, paper, stickers and more for many occasions. Whether you have Mexican roots, live south of the border, or have simply vacationed there, these products will make terrific additions to your stash!
