Hello everyone! I’m here to give you the insider’s look for the June issue of Creating Keepsakes. It was such a fun issue to work on!

Here’s a sneak peak at the huge gallery of layouts (pages 50 to 89) we put together. It includes layouts on topics that CK readers say they scrapbook the most (birthdays, pets and more), and we planned this issue a little differently than normal. Here’s how we did it:
- We sent out page calls for many different topics, and the response was incredible!
- We each brought layout submissions on different topics and met together to decide which layouts to use. You should have seen the room full of beautiful layout inspiration! When we saw that array of possibilities, we knew it was going to be a good issue. I think Beth exclaimed more than once, “I just have to say that I love my job!”
Next, you’ll notice the beautiful space of Megan Hoeppner on pages 34 and 35. But Megan has a secret: this pink paradise doesn’t always look this way. Being a Creative Chaos organization girl, she actually hid some things away in the guest bedroom before her space was photographed. You can see more of Megan’s space online here.

Lastly, on pages 91 to 95, you’ll see our favorite product picks from the CHA trade show. You got a little bit of a behind-the-scenes look at what we do at CHA when we first started the blog, but here’ a little extra insight into what we do when walking the show. Everyone who goes to CHA takes a portion of the show floor to walk and take notes on what we see—we visit every scrapbooking booth. (I had someone ask me at the Winter CHA show if I ever looked at the notes I took. I told him I refer to them over and over!)
Each night we discuss what we saw and then once we get back to the office, we meet together to decide what to feature from the show. It’s such a difficult decision to narrow down what to feature. Because we saw so many amazing products at the Winter show, you’ll also see some of our CHA picks in next month’s “Latest and Greatest”!
So here’s the question: what inspired you the most in the June issue of Creating Keepsakes? Leave a comment for this post by Monday, May 11, and I’ll choose a random winner to receive some scrapbooking goodness! Or–better yet–show me what inspired you the most by participating in our CK & Me challenge all through the month of May. Either way, you could be a winner!

I loved ideas for sharing moments of family togetherness that can pass so quickly.
the big gallery was absolutely amazing, but my favorite layout is Her Hero by Kim Watson on pg. 23. I keep going back to look at it: the color scheme, the embellishments, the papers used…it all came together beautifully without looking feminine. GREAT JOB KIM!
Thanks CK for all you do. I have to fight my daughters to read your magazine the day it comes, but it’s all worth it.
It seemed like there were more “new faces” in this issue… was that due to your submission call? LOVE all the fresh ideas on new layouts.
The big gallery was fantastic! What great inspiration…I can’t wait to scraplift some of those layouts!
Thanks for a GREAT issue.
I’ve looked through CK June issue several times already and every time something new has caught my eye. WAY TO GO CK!!! I have to say this issue is the best yet. I love the Big Idea Gallery, especially all of the “how to’s” and the new product suggestions. I am so inspired to get scrappin’!! Thanks so much!!
I always enjoy the articles on organizing and simplifying your crafts room. I like seeing what unique ideas other people come up with, using either a little bit of space or even a lot. They are such happy rooms!
The colors! Holy colors! So many colors!!! I need to incorporate more colors into y pages, and learn which goes with what. Oh color!!
I always enjoy the sketches. I love to draw inspiration from every article of the magasine but its such a great jumping off point to have a few sketches. Sometimes the outcome looks nothing like the sketch but it gets the creative juices going!
Honestly, the cover caught me instantly! I was so excited to see a layout created with ‘real’ photos taken by a ‘real’ scrapbooker! The layout is fantastic and the photos are so much fun! It made me want to read the issue immediately and start crafting!
Ali’s column as always. She always makes me want to run off to scrap. Also seemed that there were lots of great layouts to scraplift. Great issue!
For me it was the column on trims! I seem to accumulate trims but have yet to figure out what to do with them. I loved the new ideas and actually put some ribbon on the page I did yesterday!
Well, the whole baby section is marked in my June issue – but most especially? Deena Wuest’s 1000 layout. My word, I was just stunned by it. The imagery and the emotion behind it … just fantastic!
I love the peek at Megan’s room and the finds at CHA. I found a few more things to put on my wish list!
My CK & Me is http://www.jenniferhansenscrapgallery.blogspot.com
just got mine today so have only briefly flipped through, but I am loving all the LOs!
Well the sketches always inspire me….they are a staple! I also loved the baby pages, as I just had a baby of my own. (She’s 5 weeks old!) My favorite page was “When Daddy gets Home”. I have 3 little girls of my own, and definitely when Daddy gets home it’s a big deal around our house too, lol!
Definitely the wedding layouts. I’m in the middle of a huge scrap of tons of beautiful pictures (even after narrowing them down to my favorites, I have so many), so any fresh ideas I can find are really helpful. Great issue!
Becky’s Sketches are always inspiring and I really enjoyed the baby layouts!
Loved seeing Megan’s room and always enjoy Jennifer’s column. You can see my CK and Me item on my blog.
I’m still savoring the June issue–I go through each issue several times, first for a “quick” look, then again more slowly and then again to get specific ideas! I always love the Tips and Techniques, Becky’s sktetches, Lizzy’s Q and A–I’m really interested in the wedding ideas and the school pages–my son is graduating and my nephew getting married! Keep up the good work!
i love the new designers! I really like seeing all the new styles and sketches are the best keep them coming!
I would have to say I was inspired the most by Megan’s room! My scrapbooking room is a nightmare and she really inspired me to do something about it AND I realized it doesn’t have to cost a fortune to do it! Thanks Megan
Do what you’ve got to do by Linda Rodriguez!
I’ve got several photos that I want to try this technigue with!
Thanks Linda!
loving the new blog site… You have so many fun things in your June issue: I love ALI E w/her new techniques – she’s my inspiration, and the DIY craft room – wow! so much color!!
Your choice to go with a multi-photo cover was an ABSOLUTE hit! When I pulled it out of the mailbox, my first reaction was “It’s about time!” As a scrapbooker, I rarely scrap just a single photo page and I was thrilled to see an example of what I scrap on the cover of the mag.
I am always inspired by Lizzy. Her layouts are so awesome. The colors she uses and those beautiful girls! I am just loving everything about Creating Keepsakes magazine right now.
I love Jennifer McGuire’s “Finishing Trims” article. Her work always inspires me, I love getting great ideas.
I gotta say – as always – it was Becky Higgin’s sketches aritcle. I love seeing her two layouts since her style is so inspiring to me – simple yet stylish layouts I would actually have time to do! Plus I love the extra sketch variations. The other thing I noticed in this issue were several layouts with 4×6 pictures that I can make sketches of. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hey, I loved the June issue. You choose great layouts to be displayed in this issue. Here is a link to my Gallery to see the layout I did. Hope u like it. Thanks for a great issue

I looove the super cute ideas for DIY Storage! Great ideas, really helpful
Ali’s column is the only reason I subscribe to CK. Love her work!
I love all the How to articles and seeing the new products.
I’m always inspired when I peruse the pages of CK. I especially enjoyed the Photographing Fathers secion. I love learning how to take better photos to scrap! Thanks always CK!!
I loved the humungous gallery. Great stuff. And a boy on the cover? Had me at hello.
And just so you know, my son saw the magazine and asked to look at the “transformer” magazine. He definitely gave it two thumbs up!
So many things to be inspired by, and I’m only half way through my issue! A couple things of note: 1) I like the birthday banner idea on pg 57—definitely going to ty that, 2)Photos of your child holding up the # of fingers to go with their age on pg 59, and 3) the guitar template on pg 64-65 is a must-try for my own Guitar Hero! Thanks for so much inspiration. Pleeeeaaaase, keep it coming!
I still haven’t gotten mine, but I always love the sketches! When does the mag usually ship out. I wonder if my issue just disappeared or it’s just slow getting here?
I just got mine today. I love the big idea gallery and as always I love Jennifer McGuire’s techniques.
