I’m Jessica Sprague. For those of you who may not know me, I write the “Computer Tricks” column for the magazine each month and I recently released the latest special issue in my series, Computer Tricks for Scrapbooking 3. Combining paper with digital elements (also known as hybrid scrapbooking) is one of my favorite techniques, and I’m so excited for the opportunity to participate in the CK blog and share a few tips with you!
I’ve got a tutorial that I hope you’ll find useful—and easy! I’ve taken two techniques from my “Photo Editing: Good-to-Great Workflow” class that I hope you’ll love. I use them all the time! Our technique is actually two parts:
- Convert a photo to Black-and-White
- Convert a photo to Sepia-tone
Photoshop Elements has a really good automated black and white conversion command that is SO EASY you will not believe it. And I’ll show you how to take your black and white and add a sepia tone—anywhere from a little hint of color all the way to a true sepia. You’ll LOVE the results, and you’ll be amazed at how quick it is to do. All you need is one photo, a copy of Photoshop Elements and this tutorial!

Oh, this is a great class! I know because I have already completed it. I thought I could do most of what I wanted in photoshop already, but I learned quite a few things. And I love that the class is available to me forever. I am going over there right now to review something I haven’t used in a month and forgot how to do.
