Hello CK friends! I’m here once again to tell you a little more about our July issue. This was so much fun to work on. (Do I say that every month? It’s true!) This was the first issue where we started incorporating some of the Simple Scrapbooks philosophy (hello SS friends!), and we’re excited to be bringing you those ideas every month. Here are just a few of the ways we’ve incorporated that idea this month:
* “Artsy Made Easy” by Mou Saha. Mou always uses fun, artsy techniques, and here she shares some of her secrets. The techniques aren’t as difficult as you think!
* In “Creative Spaces” this month, Elisha Snow shared some of her organization secrets, which also incorporate a simple style. She proves that you don’t need a large room to effectively organize your supplies.
* “Just the Essentials” by Brittany Beattie embraces part of the Simple philosophy—that it’s important to focus on the essentials when scrapbooking. Don’t let the nitty gritty details get in the way of preserving your story.
Here are a few more tidbits about this month’s issue:
* The fantastic paper/stitched sun on page 65 was stitched together by our very own Erin Bayless. There’s a reason she’s the Creative Director! It’s currently displayed in the Design room at the CK office.

* The fabric that Megan Hoeppner used in her book on page 106 was designed by Heather Bailey. In the scrapbooking world, she’s known for her paper line with Autumn Leaves, but she has many fabric lines (all of which are beautiful) as well.

* One thing many people don’t know is that the title “editor” for CK includes many different roles. One role which more than one of us has held is “furniture builder.” Lori Fairbanks, our resident fashion and trend expert (you know it’s a good day when she compliments your outfit), got to experience this role when she received the chair featured in “Hot Spot” (page 113). Let’s just say it was harder than it looks. (It took more than one of us to figure it out).
Now, we’d like to hear from you! Leave a comment telling us what you liked about the July issue by June 14, and I’ll randomly choose a winner to receive some fun summer products! Check the “giveaways” tab at the top of the blog on Monday, June 15 to see if you’re the winner!

Becky’s Sketches!! There are 60 of them and 40 more online!! WOW!! I can’t wait to try them ALL!!
Studio A
always my fave
the photo strip souvenir is a fantastic idea! I enjoyed that
and the smart shopper!!
Becky’s sketch is great, as usual, but I really enjoyed Mou Saha’s article this month.
I am a lover of Simple Scrapbooks and was very upset when I heard it was being discontinued. I am excited to see how you incorporate it in your magazine.
I really enjoyed the For the Love of Country layouts. It’s wonderful to see people who really understand what our troops are doing for us. Thank you
Becky’s article is always the first thing I turn to, but I give Jennifer’s article on chipboard usage 5 stars this month. Great tips from both ladies.
I love the front cover first of all….the colors just say Summer and the little sun and octopus are so cute!! There are so many LO’s in this issue that use orange and turquoise and greens which are the colors that I have found myself gravitating to recently. I just love the bright and cheery looks that can be easily incorporated into my own LO’s when I need inspiration (which I found over and over again in the July issue).
Artsy made easy is great and I always love Jennifer McGuire’s ideas!
love jennier mcguire’s section and all her ideas & tips!

I love read the Shopping Smart this month and Becky’s sketch is fantastic, I thinks I’ll try to do a layout with this sketch$
thanks
I love the theme concerning the scrap and the heroes… and all about fabrics interest me !
First i love read the jennier mcguire’s section, always perfect for some amazing inspiration, then I read the Shopping smart with great interest… thanks for the chance
Love the summer “ambiance”… and Jennifer Mcguire’s ideas, always cleve
thanks for the great inspiration every month
definitely all of the fun and bright layouts/colors!
There are sooo many cool things in every issue–I always love Becky’s sketches and Elisabeth’s column–but I do love the new techniques in the Artsy made easy! Keep up the good work!
I always look forward to reading the Tools and Techniques section by Jennifer McGuire! She is so talented!
I love the whole issue and especially the “summer camp” section and the “artsy made easy” part of this wonderful magazine. I am already looking forward to my next issue.

I always go straight to Becky’s sketch. How does she keep coming up with great ideas????
I love how the July issue has lots of multiple photo layouts! Becky’s and Jessica’s columns are always my faves.
I always go to Becky’s sketch first…I love her style. But I also really like seeing how others organize their scrap space. I get some good ideas from that! Great magazine!
I always look for the organizational ideas first because I’m currently trying to arrange my scrap space and have been struggling!
I pretty much like it all, but one page I folded back to return to was the summer camp page by Rebecca Cooper, but now that I’m looking at it again, all of the summer camp pages are inspiring!
I like Ali’s discussion on different backgrounds and how they affect the feel of a layout.
Keep up the good work–the issues have been great!
I live in Norway, and I’m a new subskriber to your magazine. I have been looking forward to getting my first issue, and when it came I was not disapointed. I loved that there was so many useful tips together with the layouts.I was inspired by all the fresh summery layouts, and I was espessially greatfull for all the sketches. I’m planning an getting a lot of layouts doen this summer.
Just got the July issue yesterday and love the whole thing! Becky Higgins sketch this month is great for me. And Mandy Douglass’ made me want to make a printed book of a recent camping trip to embellish. As always, this issue doesn’t disappoint.
I really appreciated the photo tips in Candice’s column “Through the Lens”. I’m no professional photographer, just a regular point and shoot kinda gal, so need all the help I can get. I really liked the idea of taking everyone’s picture in front of a flag backdrop. What a great way to unify the photos w/o making everyone dress alike! We host a 4th of July BBQ every year and I hope to try out this technique! Thanks Candice!
I loved how this issue seemed to be so chock full of bright and cheery designs sure to bring inspiration and ideas for many to glean from! Love the many two-page layouts! I always love Elizabeth Kartchner’s work, her pages are so bright and cheery, and lend such a “yesteryear” feel! And I loved Ali Edwards article on backgrounds, it really helped me realize that i don’t need to spend so much time on choosing background papers, that there’s no wrong way of doing it! I love how when I look through this issue it brings that nostalgic feel of summers as a child and all the memories come rushing in. Which of course gets my creative juices flowing!
Well I think the issue is great and my friend Mou Saha is always inspiring, intimidating and oh so creative. I had her teach me a make n take once and I was blown away by her creativity. One of these days we will meet again but at least I get to see a bit of her in the issues of the magazine and her blog.
Loved summer camp, and I’m already signed up for more. Shopping smart reminded me that scraping is about being creative and does not always have to cost a lot. Artsy made easy inspired me, Thanks!

The July issue ia full with summer fun.For example the “add a little sunshine” section was great the ideas were so cute. Those ideas will made any layout pop out. I would also have to say that I loved the introduction to CK Summer Camp. It was great. Can’t wait for camp
I LOVED the issue when it came in the mail, but I seem to have misplaced it. Looking frantically!!
