Hello CK friends! I’m here once again to tell you a little more about our July issue. This was so much fun to work on. (Do I say that every month? It’s true!) This was the first issue where we started incorporating some of the Simple Scrapbooks philosophy (hello SS friends!), and we’re excited to be bringing you those ideas every month. Here are just a few of the ways we’ve incorporated that idea this month:
* “Artsy Made Easy” by Mou Saha. Mou always uses fun, artsy techniques, and here she shares some of her secrets. The techniques aren’t as difficult as you think!
* In “Creative Spaces” this month, Elisha Snow shared some of her organization secrets, which also incorporate a simple style. She proves that you don’t need a large room to effectively organize your supplies.
* “Just the Essentials” by Brittany Beattie embraces part of the Simple philosophy—that it’s important to focus on the essentials when scrapbooking. Don’t let the nitty gritty details get in the way of preserving your story.
Here are a few more tidbits about this month’s issue:
* The fantastic paper/stitched sun on page 65 was stitched together by our very own Erin Bayless. There’s a reason she’s the Creative Director! It’s currently displayed in the Design room at the CK office.

* The fabric that Megan Hoeppner used in her book on page 106 was designed by Heather Bailey. In the scrapbooking world, she’s known for her paper line with Autumn Leaves, but she has many fabric lines (all of which are beautiful) as well.

* One thing many people don’t know is that the title “editor” for CK includes many different roles. One role which more than one of us has held is “furniture builder.” Lori Fairbanks, our resident fashion and trend expert (you know it’s a good day when she compliments your outfit), got to experience this role when she received the chair featured in “Hot Spot” (page 113). Let’s just say it was harder than it looks. (It took more than one of us to figure it out).
Now, we’d like to hear from you! Leave a comment telling us what you liked about the July issue by June 14, and I’ll randomly choose a winner to receive some fun summer products! Check the “giveaways” tab at the top of the blog on Monday, June 15 to see if you’re the winner!

The CK Summer Camp stories/layouts are so fun!
The CK Summer Camp stories/layouts are so fun!
I loved the section on scrapbooking the heroes in your life. My dad was killed in a plane crash 18 years ago (when I was only 21 years old) and he was truly one of my biggest heroes. I have yet to scrap a single page with his photos because whenever I start, I get so overwhelmed emotionally. This segment in the latest CK has inspired me to make sure that I scrap the precious photos of my dad so that my kids can have a visual to look at when we talk about Grandpa Mike! Thanks for inspiring me to get those important pages done and to record my precious memories! *Ü*

I really enjoyed the Shopping Smart article in this issue! Some great ideas with truly fantastic pages that don’t at all appear to be done cheaply! And yes, as a former PBK employee (sister store of West Elm), those kinds of chairs always seem simple until you get started! LOL! I understand that one for sure!

I haven’t seen the issue yet – looking forward to it!
I am always a fan of Becky Higgins article. This month I immediately went upstairs and began working on a layout in her cluster style. Your “Shopping Smart” article was also very timely for me as a SAHM. Thank you for offering me some suggestions to purchase more creatively!
I just picked up my copy of the July CK and was very happy with it! It was great to see Rebecca Cooper as one of your counsellors.
Of course I loved the issue! It was absolutely FULL of eye candy and fun techniques and ideas that I can’t wait to try. I think that Mou’s article was the most inspiring for me, though. I immediately wanted to try out all of her techniques in my craft room.
I always love Becky Higgins’ articles but I want to try the screenshots layout. Loved the idea.

I thought that all around it was a very good issue. Lot’s of great information and a good variety too. One of my favorite articles was Jessica Spragues. She keeps me interested in this hobby!

I cannot even choose one favorite thing–my issue is so dog-eared with inspiration markers. I have already translated a bunch of the ideas into my own pages and plans.

Every month I try to figure out what my favorite element of this magazine is, and every month I come up with the same answer [and July's issue was no different!]…I LOVE that this magazine keeps me coming back for more. Whether it’s learning a new technique or a way to use a product I already own or showcasing a new trend along with great sketches, I love every element of CK. And thanks for adding in lots of “Simple” touches. Another great magazine that had lots of class. Thanks for the inspiration!
