Weekly Warm-Up: Cropping for a Cause and WINNERS!

Scrapbooking, like any creative outlet, is therapeutic. There’s just something about expressing oneself creatively that’s good for the soul. The same can be said on a larger scale—getting a group together to create for a cause is empowering and wonderful! I had the pleasure of experiencing just such an event last weekend, when I attended the Scrapping to Breathe crop, hosted by the beautiful Brenda Hurd. The goal of this crop was to raise money for cystic fibrosis, a terminal illness afflicting Brenda’s sweet son. I can’t think of a better way to spend my money. Plus, I had a blast getting together with the girls.

From left to right: Roxanne B.; P. Kelly Smith, Paper Crafts editor; some crazy lookin’ tall girl who needs to brush her hair and iron her shirt (me); Brenda Hurd; and Becky Olsen, the cute gal who invited me to this event in the first place. Thanks, Becky!
While at the event, I had a chance to chat with the always-adorable Wendy Sue Anderson. She put together an awesome layout kit for the event, which everyone in attendance received. Here’s what the page she made looks like.

Cutie-patootie, right? Do you want a kit of your own? Well, you’re in luck. There are still kits for sale here and you can purchase it knowing that your money is going to help Brenda with her goal of raising money for cystic fibrosis—sounds like a win-win to me!
Also, it just so happens we have a kit to give away to one lucky winner. Simply leave us a comment here between now and Friday, September 25 for a chance to win.
We’ll leave you with a few more snapshots from our day of play:
P. Kelly spent part of her crop time working on this sizzling birthday card. Who knew Johnny had a Paper Crafts tat? Surely he sports CK across his back. Oh, behave!
I spent some of my time working on this card for my niece, made with cheery paper from K&Company.
To create leaves for the flowers, simply form a loop with thread and then tie a knot.

There you have it, the full crop report. We hope you’ve enjoyed this look inside Scrapping to Breathe.
Thank you, Brenda, for bringing people together for such a special cause. Keep up the amazing work!
Cheers!
Megan Hoeppner, Creative Editor
P.S. We’ve posted winners from the House of 3, Papertrey Ink and October Insider’s Look blog giveaways. Check the Giveaways tab at the top of the page to see who is taking home these great prizes! Come back often for even more chances to win.

Once upon a distant time ago I was a CM consultant. A good friend hosted a workshop weekend to help raise money for cancer. I donated some product that I was still holding on to as door prizes and for silent auction. I think anyone who puts time and effort to help someone else in need is indeed a truly good person.
I love the layout concept set forth in this kit. The reversing of paper with the same colour band carried through. These layouts help me think outside the box.
