CK & Me

marge11 CK & MeIt’s a cool fall morning here in Utah, so I think we should warm up with a little “CK & Me” creativity. What do you say? As a friendly reminder, our “CK & Me” blog posts spotlight readers who’ve taken something from an issue of Creating Keepsakes and used it as inspiration to create their own awesome design. I’m thrilled to introduce three readers with you today who’ve done just this—and they’ve done it quite well, I might add.

Let’s being with Cheri. Inspired by this page Lori Anderson designed, which we featured in our November 2009 issue…

…Cheri created this colorful page. I love how she selected bright colors to complement such a happy girl.

I was especially inspired by the circle accent Lori used, which reminded of a product I’d had for a while and had wanted to use but, hadn’t yet. Lori’s layout inspired me to use this product that had been sitting around for awhile along with some newer items I had in my stash as well! Thanks, CK, for your unending inspiration! –Cheri Johnson

Meg Barker is more than a pretty name. icon wink CK & Me She’s also a very talented scrapbooker. Motivated by this page, which Maggie Holmes made for our July 2009 issue…

…Meg created a page of her own favorites. We love how she’s combined different patterned paper and added journaling notes directly on her photos.

What’s not to love about the “Favorite Photos” layout by Maggie Holmes?  As I sat down @ my girls weekend and started flipping through my July CK and came across this page by Maggie, I was in love!  Usually I do not sit down and make a page so much like the one I am inspired by, but with this one, the houndstooth paper, the title, everything…I loved it too much not to! Thanks, Maggie, so much for the inspiration! And thanks for the great magazine and inspiration each and every month! –Meg Barker

Our third “CK & Me” selection this month comes from Sarah de Guzman. Moved by this darling page made by Maggie Holmes for our October 2009 issue…

…She designed this wuf-ly page! Naturally we had to share cute puppy pictures with you, and we love the fun doggie accents Sarah used, complete with talk-bubble accents coming from the dog houses. So playful!

Sweet Pups by Sarah de Guzman

I was inspired to “lift” one of Maggie Holmes’ layouts. She created a double-page layout (“Oct. ’06″) that I found stunning. The design had such a simple, yet detailed look, so I had to give it a go. I also love that she split the die cut paper onto two separate pages, but it still felt like ONE big continuous layout. –Sarah de Guzman

Thanks to all who have submitted to our “CK & Me” call. Seeing the way you take CK content and make it your own amazing work brings big smiles to our faces. Those selected in this month’s post (the gals listed above) will each receive a complimentary copy of one of our special issues for participating.

I really enjoy the blog–it seems to stretch the fun I get out of a single CK issue.

Recently, I was inspired by the post about Elizabeth Kartchner’s upcoming book. Now I have thoughts swirling around my head on how to redo my dd’s birth story using the time she was born as the title.
