Hey there! We hope you’re enjoying all the pretty flowers and blossoming trees this season. Speaking of flowers and trees, have you picked up your May/June issue of Creating Keepsakes yet?
It’s got so many fun, must-try ideas inside, including the article “Fabulous Flower Techniques” by Jennifer McGuire with instructions for making handmade flowers.
And “Branches On Our Family Tree” by Mou Saha about celebrating family connections. Check out this darling page by Mou from her article.

"The Apple Doesn't Fall Far From the Tree" by Mou Saha, as seen in Creating Keepsakes' May/June 2010.
Want to know more about this issue? Here are some fun tidbits from the CK team:
- Isn’t the article design for the “Branches on Our Family Tree” article fun? It’s a favorite of CK designer Neko Carrillo. She says, “The design team had fun coming up with goofy family members for our family tree opener and a great time watching Nicole LaRue sketch each one.”
- Want to know where the idea for the “No Photo? No Problem?” article came from? Readers like you! Jennafer Martin says, “We got letters and suggestions on our Facebook fan page for an article with solutions for those times when you don’t have the right photo but want to scrapbook anyway, and this is the result. Thanks to Dream Team member Deena Wuest who took on the task of writing this article!”
- Betcha can’t tell, but Megan Hoeppner’s “Sew Sweet” layout in the “Latest & Greatest” column on page 47 was actually created with product prototypes from My Little Yellow Bicycle, as the finished products weren’t yet available. They’re available now, check them out here.
- The hands shown in the step-by-step shots on page 52 are actually Kim Watson’s talented hands. Ordinarily, we shoot hand shots in our studio, but since she’s on another continent, she went ahead and did these for us. Didn’t she do a fantastic job?
- The day our team went out to Margie Romney-Aslett’s home to shoot this month’s creative space (page 56), there was a terrible snow storm. Miraculously, we still got the shots and everything went off without a hitch.
- This was the first issue of the magazine that Kim Jackson worked on. She says, Oh, man, what a ride! I started the week before Christmas, and dove right in to writing my first column. I was sitting here in a half-organized cubicle—aka, Fort Product—trying to make decisions on what amazing CHA sneak-peek products to feature in the Latest & Greatest column. I loved it all! It was pretty surreal.” We’re so glad to have Kim on the team! Check out her product picks on page 47 of the May/June issue.
- Do you relate to Deena’s Wuest’s layout “Before Kids/After Kids”? Dorathy Gilchrist does. She says, “Deena’s layout is a hilarious because it’s true! Her design really reflects the pace and tone of life before and after having kids.”
What were your favorite things about this issue? Leave us a comment by Friday, May 21, 2010 and you could be one of three lucky winners to receive a sampling of the gorgeous Flutter collection from Making Memories.

My favorite is making the flowers.
I actually liked the making the most out of leftovers article. It had some great ideas and seemed to have the most dog-eared pages of the magazine. Love Creating Keepsakes!
I love anything you do about organized scrap spaces, because that’s my worst area! I’d probably scrap so much more if I was just organized, and I loved the beautiful room featured this month.
I absolutely adore the Before and After layout…I will be scraplifting very soon!
The thing I always look for first is the Creative Spaces article. I’m always looking for more ideas on how to better manage my scrap space.
I liked the different flower techniques and the tips to get more out of my Cricut Expression.
All of these articles made me smile. I especially enjoyed the flower-making as that’s so fun to do. It’s great to learn new techniques that can make my pages/cards more beautiful/interesting!
I can relate to Deena’s Wuest’s layout “Before Kids/After Kids and now it is not only my girls it is my grand daughters.
)
I am always so impressed with the new ideas that continuously flow from creative people. the flowers that were made with folded paper are not only creative, but so doable!!
Can I have Margie’s scraproom? It’s so organized and lovely!
I loved looking at Margie Romney-Aslett’s scrap space! Just beautiful and functional too!
I thought this was a great issue….loved Jennifer’s flower techniques!!!
Flowers, scrap space, no photos, family tree…all were super…can’t pick just one!
LOVE Jennifer’s flowers! So cute and creative.
I’ll add my vote to Jennifer’s pretty flowers as a favorite!
Margie Romney-Aslett’s home & Jennifer’s flowers!!
I loved the flower making article, of course!
I love the before/after layout. But my favorite was “No Photo”. Sometimes we forget the camera (I know, I know) but end up having a memorable day. My scrapbooks are truly “scrap” books – so some pages end up without photos. A recent trip to a hockey game ended up in a two page layout — one with a few pics (snapped on a phone cam) but the other page had tickets, a team bumpersticker handed out at the game and the tag from the shirt my younger son bought.
My favorite is the scrapping without photos article.
I love the flower techniques. There are so many great, FUN things to do! I also LOVE Deena’s Before & After layou… too funny!
I’m an ardent family historian so any layouts that relate to family heritage are going to catch my eye. Mou’s apple-tree layout was a cute take on the topic!
I can’t remember receiving my May/June issue. Looks like it is jam packed with interesting “stuff.” I always read Ck from cover to cover.
I loved how to make the flower out of tissue paper, plus I always like the sketch articles.
I love that you guys show all of the latest and greatest techniques. There’s always something new to learn from you guys:D Thanks for all you do.
Tips & Tricks…there’s always some technique that I try from this section. I love the entire magazine!
I like the flower techniques and the scrap spaces. Gives me lots of ideas!!
I always enjoy the reader’s gallery. In this issue, I especially enjoyed Stacy Cohen’s “You Spin Me” layout. It just looks so fun!
My favorite was NO PHOTOS NO PROBLEM. Great ideas, sometimes I find myself wanting to scrapbook about an event in which I was not able to get photos.
Thanks,
Marie
Love this issue!! “Before & After” is a beautiful layout
learned a great tip–using Mr. Clean eraser to clean my acrylic blocks–worked great
I enjoyed looking at Margie’s craft space. I would love to have a space like hers. Other than that, I love the magazine. I am probably on my 3rd time through it. I get so much inspiration from the layouts and articles in it.
The flower techniques were so helpful and Deena’s before/after kids layout was indeed true and hilarious.
Loved Jennifer’s video. I’m not really into scrapbooking as yet but her her beautiful LO could convince me.
Doing pages without photos is a great idea!
Jennifer’s page is just so beautiful. I usually stamp on my cards and not so much on scrapbook pages. I have been working on using my stamps more in my scrapbooks. Thanks for the great inspiration.
My all-time favorite things are the instructional photos for each of the techniques shown in this inspiring issue. It makes it supremely easy for me to recreate the techniques in my projects. So THANKS, they are amazing!
My favorite is Jennifer McGuire layout and technique….Love it…..thank you….
This has been one of my favorite issues!! I love the gift ideas… made my mom and mother-in-law the magnets just last night! Downloaded the calendar template and will be giving for Christmas presents…Love the fast 4×6 pages and the 15 minute page!
I love the flower accents. Will have to try. Would love to win anything. Thanks!
the no photo layouts are fantastic. Some of our favorite memories of my oldest son there is no pics for. I am going to scrap a couple of them for his book with no photo. and as always love the 15 minute layout.
There’s a lot to love about this latest issue! I really got a lot from the CK Sketches article. Great use of 4×6 photos and loved that you included a digi template to download. I’m hoping that this becomes a regular feature of this article (hint-hint!). Thanks for the inpiration!
