Weekly Warm-up: Then and Now

joannie 200x300 Weekly Warm up: Then and NowIt’s so much fun to be able to look at pictures of loved ones from when they were younger and compare them with photos from today. In our May-June 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine, we have an entire article about sharing the comparisons between past and present. Here are a few of the layouts from that article. I hope they inspire you to look at your life, or the life of your loved ones, and find ties that bind the past to the present.

Beth Opel created this really sweet layout about her parents showing the relationship they have shared over the years. Beth did a great job of highlighting not only how much her parents have changed physically but also how the love they have for one another and their family remains rock solid. Is there a great love story in your family? Document how the love has changed and grown.

On Lori Anderson’s layout, it’s all about showing a connection between the past and present. As a young girl, Lori participated in softball. Today, her new position on the field during most evenings, or on the weekends, is sitting on the sidelines rooting for her own children, who just so happen to have the same love of the game. Are some of your talents or hobbies passed down from past generations? Create a layout showing the story.

I love Suzy Plantamura’s fun take on her layout. She chose to showcase pictures of her son graduating from both kindergarten and high school. What a great way to capture the similarities and differences all in one place. This is also a great solution to use if you only have one or two photos from each event.
