Hi, I’m Jodi Sanford, owner and founder of Fancy Pants Designs. I love this time of year with its bright and colorful days, exciting new adventures ahead of us (and behind us as well), and the release of brand-new product lines to scrap the memories!
I am so thrilled to be the guest blogger here at Creating Keepsakes just after the latest trade show where we released some really great products that are filled to the brim with those bright and colorful swatches to match the seasons!
I had a hard time choosing what I wanted to share with you most, so I’ve picked my “4 Happy Kids” page with a couple aspects that I think are fun—and easy—to make your pages and projects pop a little more!
I used our new “It’s Your Day” product line—an everyday celebration line! The concept of the layout is really basic, but there are great embellishments and details that add a little “fancy” to the design!
First, I used a small rub-on design as part of the title. I like this idea because you can make a small rub-on design a big part of your page with some very simple steps! (Some of my favorite rub-ons are mini in size, and this is a great way to make them stand out!)
I simply transferred the rub-on to a white piece of cardstock and hand-cut around it. You could also use a circle punch if you want to be precise, but I’m okay with little imperfections! I then mounted the circle onto red cardstock to coordinate with the top area of the layout, since I’d be placing the title in the bottom area.
Once I painted and placed my other title letters, I used foam adhesive to mount the circle on top of the chipboard letters, giving me two layers of dimension. It made a super-simple rub-on be seen at a quick glance—plus, it spiced up my title quite a bit!

The other super-easy technique here is using designs from paper to create custom journaling spots and shapes. My journaling spot was cut out by hand from the “It’s Your Day” cards paper. I love being able to add splashes of shape to an otherwise straight-edged design—hence, the cutout and punched border!
I know the concept is pretty simple, but I think it’s worth reminding myself that everything doesn’t have to be “big” to make a statement on the page. In fact, some of the smallest items make the greatest impact, just like the layout’s topic—kids!
I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing a peek of one of our new lines. Don’t miss out on our blog for regular updates and amazing projects from our super design team! They offer great designs and lots of instruction each week that I know anyone can learn from!
