Hello, fellow scrapbookers. Happy Friday!
I am Jennifer McGuire and am thrilled to share a few projects with you today. Since my Creating Keepsakes article for October focuses on creative ways to use chalk, I thought I would show are few more ideas here.
I have loved chalk since I first started scrapbooking years ago… and fell in love even more when I started stamping. There are so many great things you can do this fabulous product.
This first card I have to share today showcases a couple chalk ideas.
Isn’t that huge flower fun? I stamped this Hero Arts image with Versamark ink on white textured paper and heat embossed with white embossing powder. Next, I heavily applied pink Pebbles Metallic Chalk with my fingers. These cream chalks go on like butter!
After it was completely covered, I added dark pink chalk to the center. Once I was done, I buffed it with a paper towel. LOVE these results… and LOVE these Metallic Cream Chalks.
I then stamped a notecard with a Hero Arts background with Versamark. While this was still sticky, I applied some Pebbles Basic Brights Chalks over the entire card, creating a soft background.
I then added some BasicGrey paper, a Hero Arts stamped image, a spray of fixative and voila! A fun chalked card.
Another way I like to use chalk is to color my embellishments, as showcased in this card.
I decided I wanted to use some Hero Arts self-adhesive lace on this card, but wanted it to be purple instead of white. So, I just applied lots of Pebbles Basic Brights Chalk over the lace, completely changing the color. (This gives more even results than inking.)
After putting the card together with some additional Hero Arts stamps and embellishments, I decided I wanted to add leaves to my Basic Grey flower embellishment. I took apart another of the flower embellishments and chalked it with a green chalk to match my paper. I then cut leaves from the flower petals and added them to the card.
I hope this inspires you to try out chalk for yourself. And, as a fun giveaway, I have up for grabs both a Pebbles Classic Chalks set AND a Hero Arts Friend Definition cling background stamp!
Just leave a comment for your chance to win.
Thanks for joining me today. And… happy chalking!
-Jennifer

I LOVED your article in the October issue on chalks and this one is great too! What beautiful ideas. I immediately got my chalks out and went to work on a couple of scrapbook pages and it really added something to the layouts! Thank you so much for the inspiration. So you say these pebble chalks are “like butter”! Gotta try that!
I never thought to chalk on lace…fantastic ideas! Thanks, Jennifer.
I have collected chalks. Now I know how to use them. thanks.

I haven’t used my chalk in a while. I just bought loads of the Hero Arts lace and was trying to dye it using spritzes. But never thought to use my chalk. Thanks for the inspiration!
