Dress Up Your Supplies

Hi! It’s Joannie McBride here, and I’ve got a quick and easy challenge for you! Halloween is just a few days away, and I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait to see all the adorable children in my neighborhood dressed up in their favorite holiday costumes. No matter how many witches or Harry Potters come to my door, it’s certain that no two will look exactly alike. The same can be said when you take a pre-made accent and dress it up with fun products like ribbon, ink, or buttons to make your very own one-of-a-kind embellishment.

Here’s a simple way to create a unique title. As seen in the October 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes, Megan Hoeppner’s scrapbook page features basic chipboard letters dressed up with pom-pom trim to mimic the look of the wig in her photos.

  • Try adding designer textures and layers to your chipboard wardrobe using fabric, rhinestones, ribbon, and specialty trim to give your chipboard a lift.

Supplies: Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned paper: Fancy Pants Designs and Sassafras; Stickers: Cosmo Cricket, Doodlebug Design, and Sassafras; Ribbon: Strano Designs; Pom pom trim (small): Wrights; Pen: Marvy Uchida; Adhesive: Helmar and Love My Tapes; Other: Pom pom trim (large).

= a super cute and unique title for any scrapbook layout!

I challenge you to adorn an accent such as a title or journaling tag with your favorite go-to product. Then go online to Club CK to share your ideas with us and other Creating Keepsakes readers.

Have a Happy Halloween!

So sad because I haven’t seen my October mag yet. I guess I should call cust svc for help with that. I just got my Sept issue 2 weeks ago.
