In the February 2011 issue of Creating Keepsakes, we gave you a brief look inside an amazing crafting oasis. Creative Escape is a spectacular, three-day crafting retreat presented by Bazzill Basics Paper and Heidi Swapp in the scenic Arizona desert. At the end of your weekend of crafting inspiration, surprise goodies, and laughter, you’ll walk away with not only projects that you’ll enjoy for years to come, but also a host of new useful skills to incorporate into your crafting.
Here is a taste of what you’ll learn at Creative Escape: a quick technique that can help you create artistic, custom backgrounds with very little effort. This fun paint and spray ink technique was presented at Creative Escape 2010 by our friends at Tattered Angels.
How to Create Spray Ink Resist Backgrounds.
1. Paint Glimmer Glam over sheet of cardstock or patterned paper.
2. Spritz spray ink over painted background. The painted areas will resist the spray ink, leaving your design visible.
Whether you paint in broad strokes or tiny dabs, this technique will add a fun artistic or edgy urban look to your layouts. It’s a great option for those tricky teen pages!
This year is the last year that Creative Escape will be held. You don’t want to miss out on this incredible event, so be sure to register early.
