Hi everyone! I’m Laura Vegas and I’m happy to be back on the CK Blog to share some exciting projects with you today.
I hope that you have had a chance to check out the new Keepsake Kits by Creating Keepsakes that are on sale now in their online store. I had an opportunity to work with one of those kits, the Everyday Moments Mini Album Kit.
This kit contains all the products and instructions needed to complete a 20 page mini album. What’s great about this kit is that it doesn’t mean you’re limited to creating a mini album with it.
Personally, I’m not a huge mini album scrapper. So, I decided to use the kit to make a layout and a card. I love working out of a kit because it limits my choices. Sometimes, too many choices in my scrap room makes the design process very overwhelming. I enjoy the challenge of working with a set of products that have been picked out and put together because they match up so well.

The only tools I used, in addition to my paper trimmer, were one border punch and my sewing machine. I wanted to add some interest to the edges of my papers so I added some machine stitching to all my cardstock and pattern paper pieces. I love my large circle border punch and used it along the edge of the light blue grid pattern paper. I wrapped the elastic cord and the twine around my page, and tied it in a bow. If you make a small notch on either end of your layout, your trims will have a place to rest inside that notch, and they won’t slide around the layout and away from where you intended them to be.

I used the white foam letter stickers for my title and then hand wrote my journaling underneath.

I used the twine to thread my buttons and glue dotted them to my layout in groups of threes.

I used some of my paper scraps to make a couple of cards. The package of foam letter stickers had a huge amount of numbers in it as well. So I thought it would be fun to use a bunch of those numbers on the front of a card, making it perfect for birthdays. Because there were so many numbers, I was able to make two of these cards, and I still have plenty of numbers left over.

To add some interest to my yellow ribbon, I created some pleats on one end. I used mini glue dots to adhere half the ribbon. Then I made some little folds for the pleats, using more mini glue dots to secure them as I went. I added a mini staple to each end of the ribbon, to secure it even more. And added a few glittered candy dots to finish it off.
I had a lot of fun using this kit. And the great thing is that I still have lots of product left over to use on other projects, including a really cute mini album to add to my stash and use at a later time.
The other great thing is that Creating Keepsakes is giving an Everyday Moments Mini Album Kit to two lucky winners! Each kit includes:
- 1 — 20-page layered chipboard album from Doodlebug Design

Great album, I love the way you used your sewing machine to add intrest to your pages, and the ribbon was ever so cute.
Cute font!! And love the mini album!
I always enjoy your projects Laura… Love the colors and the white with polka dot accents!!!
Thanks for the idea about notching the edge to keep the ribbon or string from moving. I like the big circle border punch. Do you happen to remember the brand you use? Your ideas are so creative, but not fussy at all.
Great album page layout to highlight–my favorite–more than one photo! And fun card. Being able to use up less commonly used letters & numbers is always a challenge.

Soo Cool and cute. Just love the elastic and twine on the layout and also liked the ribbon on the card. Good tip to notch the paper for the embelshment to hold it in place.
I just love the looks of the mini kit. I have never scrapped one so I am very excited to have the opportunity to win one and give it a try.
