What usually comes to mind when you think of pastels? Babies, Easter, princess parties? Well today is the day for pastels to gain full admittance onto other types of scrapbook pages in your albums. Check out these delightful pastel layouts, featured in the March/April 2011 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine.
Joey Manwarren used pale gray, gray, turquioise, and orange in pastel shades to create this exciting layout for her daughter.
Use shades of gray as base colors, and then add bits of colors that stand out to give your story energy. And for those of you with graduations or trips to start college coming your way, use Joey’s layout to inspire your own ideas on how to scrapbook those stories.
Challenge: Create a pastel-based layout about something you’re excited about.
Spring is the perfect time to photograph those moments when something in nature teaches you like nothing else can. This is exactly what Deena Wuest did as she photographed this image.
To keep the attention on her photo, Deena used the pastel color from the photo as the accent color of the layout. The contrast of pastel yellow against gray, charcoal, and black emphasizes how the flower survived through the storm. Juxtapose cool and warm toned pastels on layouts to make pastel subjects in your photos stand out.
Challenge: Create a pastel-based layout that explains what you’ve learned from something in nature.
