Hi, CK peeps, I cannot tell you how cool it is to be able to hang out in your neck of the blogosphere, and share my “paperlife” with you! My name is Amy Coon, and I am the host and creator of the creative inspiration site, The Paperlife. We have a lot going on over there but, my goal for today is to inspire you with a fun textural technique, that will help you bring the trendy new mixed media world into your layouts.

Check out my video tutorial featuring a tip and trick for your mixed media layouts! At the end of the video there’s an introduction to my new mixed media, art journaling class that will feature similar techniques and it’s called Life Journaling.
So what did you think of that mixed media texture technique? Pretty cool huh? Have you been wanting to learn more about this style? Or the fun art journals that keep popping up everywhere?
Please leave a comment on this post about your favorite technique to use, and I will give one of you a free seat in class with me. And go ahead and sign up, if you know you want to be in class, no matter what, at the $30 introductory rate. If you are the winner we will refund your registration.
Thanks so much, CK and everyone, for letting me hang out and share today! Make sure you take time to make a beautiful mess of your paperlife!!!
Hugs,
Amy

I like to use Gesso and splat it with India inks. Art class ROCKS!
I like to cut out letters or shapes with my Cricut, glue them to my layouts and then paint over them. I like the subtlety it gives. I’d love to try more new techniques, though!

Thanks for sharing this Amy. I love the layout!
As a graphic designer, I love the idea of getting away from the computer and getting my hands messy. Thank you for the inspiration and tips Amy!
Amy- love how you made this accessible to everyone- we should all try to add some mixed media into our projects.
Wow–I love mixed media–in fact I haven’t tried the modeling paste so may have to go pick some up! I’m a very much play with my hands kind of crafter–just short on time is my problem. And I very much work with my hands for a living–so fun!
This is great Amy! I have yet to try mixed media…it’s on my list, so I’m going to check out your class!
Amy, you are so talented!
I am so proud of you and for you following your heart and passion. You have so much to offer the creative world of mixed media and paper crafting! So love what you are doing…xoxo Teresa
I don’t have a favorite technique yet. I am fascinated with art journaling and would like to get started in it, but haven’t been able to figure out quite where to start . A class would be great!
I just discovered Gesso. I use it similar to what you did here – for texture. Going a little nutty with it but discovering a newfound love for mixed media and I can’t wait to take your class! (which I’ll be signing up for as soon as I’m done here…)
Sounds like a great class; hope i get to take it.
I’m an inker through and through. Wear out my cats eyes on the distressing!
I love whatever technique gives me the most texture! I am a technique junkie … so I would love to win a spot in your class!
Yay Amy!!!!So proud of you, sweet friend!
You’re doing such a GREAT job and I’m so excited for you!
Hi Amy – great page!
I have always been a pile it on layering kind of scrapper and a journaler so mixed media was a natural transition. I love to feel like a “real artist” when I’m creating. Stamping is my go to technique – it adds so much interest when it’s put on my pages or canvases
Looks like an AMAZING class Amy!!!!!!!!
I’m really interested in using unusual materials in altered journaling. I save packaging, clothing tags, cardboard, paint chips, magazine ads, you name it. Reduce, reuse, recycle!
Love this lo! Would love to win a seat! Thanks for the share and for bring such a great class to all of scared of all of the artsy stuff! lol
This looks like a fabulous class, can’t wait to get started, thanks for the chance at the giveaway.. My favorite technique at present is working with stencils, and inks and paints and sprays to see how they turn out…
