Creative Spaces: Storage Solutions To Try

Hello CK Blog readers, Mou Saha here as today’s guest blogger.

When I got my copy of Creative Spaces with Megan Hoeppner, I dashed through the pages trying to see all the colorful pretty spaces of other scrappers. After the initial round of, “Wow, that’s CLEVER!” and “Why didn’t I think of that!” I went back in one page at a time and took in the details.

I saw the various ways to store ribbons, papers, scraps, stamps, paints, punches and more. There was an idea for every budget and every size of collection for every size of space. I was reassured that if my ribbon bins are already full and I don’t have room for a new bin, I could get a multi- hook drying rack, attach  it to the wall or behind the door and hang the extra spools from it, just like Megan Hoeppner did.

Changing your organization style can not only accommodate more supplies, but also give it better visibility. Kelly Purkey simply turned her bins into shadow boxes for her wood-mounted stamps. It lets you see what you have plus doubles as cool studio décor.

I like to put things in clear jars so I can still see it. If I put it away where I can’t see it I tend to forget I have it.

I wanted to use my love affair with ribbon to decorate my craft space, as well as be functional for storing the beautiful fibers. I purchased a bunch of metal medium sized metal buckets for a dollar a piece in Target’s dollar section. I also purchased a bunch of clothes pins. I then spent a while wrapping the clothes pins with different ribbon. It looks fun in the room and the ribbon isn’t stays nice and crisp (no creases). I also use the center of the pails for ribbons that are less than a yard. They just stay in the center of for that colors pail. I have 10 pails and they sit on the tops of my bookcases. I just grab the color pail that I need when I am scrapping or paper crafting.

I use clear plastic shoe boxes to store amy tons of ribbon!-separate each tub by color. And I use 8 1/2 by 11 binders with pages in that I stro my clign stamps on. The pages are covered with the shiny plastic and I can take off an replace them on the pages. I love all the ideas I am getting for storage-never enough ideas-thanks!

Some great ideas! I need help! Love the ribbon storage, so you can see what you have instead of hiding it in a drawer! Also love the bins for the stamps. Mine are in Iris cart drawers now, but hard to find what I want when I want it!

I like your ribbon storage idea. It puts it in view as a reminder to use them. I have mine in a plastic 12 x 12 storage case with dividers and the overflow of the smaller spools are in peanut butter jars on a shelf on my wall. They are pretty for a display and help to keep them in sight to remember to use them. Thanks for sharing with us.
