Creative Spaces: Projects And Decor Ideas

Hello CK friends! I’m thrilled to be with you today to talk about the latest special issue from Creating Keepsakes magazine, Creative Spaces. This issue is not only packed full of inspiring rooms, but also project and décor ideas that you’ll want to try in your own creative space! As a matter of fact, today I’m going to share with you two of my favorites from this amazing issue!

This elegant grouping of flowers caught my attention right away. Holly Jones sketched these beauties onto paper, cut them out and adorned her wall with them! What a clever, beautiful, and low budget way to decorate!

I couldn’t wait to give Holly’s idea a try! I gathered several yellow paper scraps and cut butterflies from them using my Silhouette. While I adore Holly’s hand-cut blooms I opted to use my die cut machine for quicker results.

I love how these butterflies add wonderful movement and the perfect touch of spring to my creative space.

Another décor project that I can’t wait to try is this bright idea from Reyanna Klein. Simply frame your light switch to add a splash of color and a bit of whimsy to your space! Take it even further and decorate your switch plate with ribbon, decorative tape or rub-ons from your scrapbook supply stash.

And don’t forget to check out our reader-submitted spaces!

I just made a wall hanging today to display my latest paper crafted projects. Also I have my papers hanging on the wall.

I will be attempting this. I MUST. This is so fabulous. I loooove the hand made flowers! I’m not brave enough to hand cut them so I will definitely have to opt for die cuts. XD The trail of butterflies are beautiful, but so is the room. xD Thank you for sharing!

I love these butterflies on the wall idea. Just recently I’ve been using more butterflies on my layouts and love them. Thanks for the idea. This magazine is going to be so fun for anyone to read. My storage idea is my favorite’s bucket. It sits right on my table and has all my go to most used products and tools in it. So no more searching or getting up to get something, it’s all right there.

  9. Right now, there isn’t much decoration. First, I have to organize it, then I can think about decorating! Thanks for a chance to win!

  12. SandyP says:

    I LOVE those butterflies! GORGEOUS…

In my space, I have family photos and old projects sitting out to remind myself “what” I can do when the spark of creativity is a dim flicker!

  13. Jennifer D says:

What a great idea! I am going to have to give this on a try! I like how it has more dimension then vinyl!

My “studio” is painted my favorite colors: honeydew green and lilac. I made an awesome valance out of vintage styled fabric and plastic beads that I altered to become knobs (they really fool the eye that they’re glass!) I’m adding to my vintage style every time I shop in antique stores. I love recycling!!

  15. Denise Bryant says:

So pretty… I love that green wall color and the 3-D wall art. I need to paint my room. Right now it is just plain white walls. Keeping my eyes open for a color I’d love in there. Most of my wallspace in that room is wood walls (I have a log home), but I would like to add some color to the other two walls in the room.

I like the idea of decorating the light switch. I have two in my room. I put a banner on my door that says it is my scrap room with embellishments that represent scrap tools.

  18. MsHardHead says:

I like displaying my grandson’s art pieces. They don’t come as often now that he is a teenager but when I get them, I proudly display them.

  19. SusanStratton says:

My “craft area” is also the extra bedroom and laundry room, so I can’t decorate much. My refrigerator is still the best place for paper from the grandkids!

  20. SusanStratton says:

You can’t go wrong with butterflies!

  21. Steffanie S says:

I decorate my space with completed layouts. This way I get to enjoy them for awhile before they go into a book!

  22. Pendra says:

I use my acrylic paints to help decorate my space. I bought a spinning rack and have the colors all lined up to relect the rainbow. That wall is so bright and cheerful it just brightens the whole space up. But I think a few of those butterflies over the rainbow would be beautiful!

  23. Diane Flatt says:

This is a wonderful idea. So much fun I think my bedroom could use this touch. Thanks for sharing!

  24. Diane Flatt says:

I have used vinyl birds on my cupboards in my scraproom. The problem is they are flat I love the dimension of the butterflies and flowers.
