National Scrapbooking Week: Scrapping with Sketches

It’s that time of year again–a time to honor and celebrate scrapbookers all over. It’s National Scrapbooking Day (NSD)…well, technically NSD is this coming Saturday, May 7, but it’s NSW (National Scrapbooking Week) here on our blog. And we’re going to kick this scrappy party off with a little sketch chat, and, of course, a giveaway!

CK Sketches

Do you create with sketches? What is it about sketches you like? Where do you go for sketches? Do you draw your own? One place I love to turn for a quick page blueprint, or sketch, is our “CK Sketches” column, found in every issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine. We also have free sketch downloads on our website, including a sheet of FREE bonus CK sketches made specifically for NSD. Hooray! Download the following NSD sketch freebie.

Speaking of sketches, I created this layout about my sweet niece using a magazine sketch for the “CK Sketches” column.

Congrats by Megan Hoeppner, as seen on page 31 of the May/June 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine.

You can download a digital Photoshop Elements file of the sketch I used.

One of my favorite things about sketches is how very versatile they are. Take this sketch, for example. By taking just the left side of the sketch and replacing photo areas with patterned paper pieces and switching a title for a sentiment, you have a quick card idea you can make and share. Send your favorite scrapbooker a happy greeting in celebration of our special day!

Speaking of our day, what would any celebration be without a giveaway? Leave a comment here, and you’ll be entered to win one of two free magazine subscriptions we’re giving away. Remember, everyone leaves this party a winner. Download our free NSD sketch insert. And check out all we have going on this week. Also, be sure to stop by the CK Store for free shipping on orders of $50 and a sale on National Scrapbooking Day, May 7, featuring new product!

Cheers!

  12. Scrapbooking can be a great hobby. And it is also a great way to preserve memories and organize them in a way that is fun to look back through later. There are many scrapbook ideas and ways to do it.

First you need to decide if you want a physical scrapbook or a digital scrapbook. Then decide how you want to lay it out
