Hi! I’m excited to be with you today as a guest blogger on the CK Blog!
Paper piecing is one of my favorite techniques in paper crafting. It’s simple, and it’s a beautiful way to add color and texture to your project.
I created a two-page spread of my daughter’s dance recital. I wanted the flowers on my page to pop with vibrant colors so I decided to use the paper piecing technique.
First, using some cute clear stamps, I stamped the flowers, butterflies, and scalloped borders on to various lightly patterned papers.
Next, I cut each flower out. This part took a while, but not much longer than it would if I had chosen to color in each flower using markers or colored pencils.
Then, I glued the various pieces together to give the flowers some dimension & color.
Finally I added rhinestones and placed my flowers, butterflies, and scallop borders on my layout.
I used the stamp set, Ella’s Flowers from My Cute Stamps for the flowers and butterflies. The scalloped border was made using a stamp from the Celebrate Chandelier stamp set. The paper used in this layout is from O’Scrap.
You can enter to win the Ella’s Flowers stamp set by leaving a comment below telling us about a layout you want to add paper piecing to. One lucky winner will be chosen!
Good luck and happy paper piecing!
