CK Summer Camp 2011: Arts & Crafts Day

Hello CK Campers!

Welcome to Arts & Crafts for CK Summer Camp 2011, where we think art is even more fun when you get your fingers dirty. Channel your inner child and bring some color to your scrapbook layouts by playing with paint, watercolor pencils, or ink to mix it up for a mixed media result. Here’s three ways you can try today.

Win with Watercolor. Use watercolor pencils to create a colorful, whimsical background like contributing writer Mou Saha did. While Mou’s artsy touch creates a cool water look, you could also create a rainbow look for a spring layout or a sunset look for a layout reflecting on a goal or milestone.

Swim Lessons by Mou Saha. Appeared in the July/August 2011 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine.

Spread Shimmer with Spray Ink. Kim Watson misted the background paper of her layout to add colorful, springy touches, masking some flowers along the way. Customize your background paper with your choice of spray ink for a lovely touch.

She Has Spring in Her Step by Kim Watson. Appeared in the March/April 2010 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine.

Play with Paint. Combine paper, paper towels, and paint for fun & fabulous backgrounds, like Emily Falconbridge did on her layout below.

Happy List by Emily Falconbridge. Appeared in the April 2008 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine.

Here’s how to get this look:

1. Fold or wad paper towel.

2. Lightly paint the paper towel, texture side up.

3. Press painted paper towel onto layout surface to

“stamp” the textured design onto the page.

There you have it: three fun ways to get your layouts—and your fingers—colorful! Try one today, or add your own artistic touch when you download these journaling spots.

Don’t forget to download today’s free summer camp font, CK Family Trip Symbols.

And remember our motto: “It’s more fun when you get your fingers dirty!”

Have fun!
