Weekly Warm-Up: Self-Reflective Journaling

Writer’s block can really bring your scrapbook journaling to a halt.  And that can be problematic when you’re trying to journal about the one person you know best: you!  When did writing about ourselves start leaving us speechless?

Defeat writer’s block when it strikes with premade journaling prompts. Whether in the form of questions that encourage you to answer or as phrases that you can’t help but respond to, journaling prompts trigger your words.

Premade journaling prompts, such as the ones from GCD Studios that Heidi Sonboul used on her layout below, can helped you write in your own voice. By answering prompts such as “What do I want to shout from the rooftops?” and “How can I be more gutsy?” Heidi was inspired to write about how she felt to be 29 years old.

The other nice thing about premade journaling prompts is that you only have to journal using the prompts that strike you.  No forced answers necessary!

In every issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine, our “Journaling Solutions” column offers you great ways to jump-start your journaling. Download the journaling prompts and quotes featured in our September 2011 issue.

Want to win a set of premade journaling prompts from GCD Studios?

For your chance to win, leave a comment on this post with your answer to the prompt: “What puts a smile on my face?” One lucky winner will be randomly chosen!
