Happy Friday everyone! This is Rachel Kaufman from Scrapbooking from the Inside Out. As your week draws to a close, do you feel that you accomplished everything you set out to do in the past seven days? How about the past month, or year? We all set goals for ourselves in different areas of our lives. And if you’re like me, you struggle with reaching all your goals because there are so many great things to create, so much you can become, and so little time.
This month at Scrapbooking from the Inside Out, we’re exploring the theme of achievement. Achievement is all about reaching for the stars, becoming who you are meant to be and working hard to have all you dream of. How do you measure success? Is it internal or defined by external approval? What are your proudest accomplishments, what defeats have you overcome and what would you like to master?
Our mission at Scrapbooking from the Inside Out is to empower women and girls to express themselves authentically and honestly using our craft. And what could be more empowering than encouraging you (and me!) to set meaningful, measurable and reachable goals, stretching ourselves, yet being gentle with ourselves when we don’t succeed, or when attaining our dreams takes time.
Our design team created some great layouts on this subject…looking at both sides of the coin – goals achieved and opportunities missed. Check these out:

Design Team Coordinator Melissa Elsner recounts her missed goals as she gazes out over the horizon. Perhaps they are just beyond her current range of vision, but still there.

Jamie Long has set a goal to be healthy and has committed to running for her body. Mind and spirit. That pic of her shoes helps her stay connected to her self-care.

Laura Croft is working on letting go of past ‘failures’ and accepting her imperfections. That would be an amazing goal to reach!

Mette Kallander wisely suggests that although life is full of pressure to achieve and succeed, the most important goal she sees is to love yourself as you are.
Every month we create a kit that uses the freshest supplies along with all the symbolism you’ll need to help you tell your real story. Leave a comment here about one of your cherished goals – achieved or not (yet), and you’ll be entered to win the Achievement kit. For an extra chance to win, watch for the Achievement Challenge on Club CK!
Or join us online! Our industry-exclusive FREE Inspiration Page each month provides you with a multimedia support system – including deep journaling prompts, a music playlist, quotes, photos and evocative challenges to make your tender heart and creative mind and hands flow. We’ve also got an amazing, deep, and real community of women just like you who want to share what truly matters most. The idea that my goals are within my grasp is always a question to me. I’ve set my sights to high in the past and failed. Now that I’m disabled, my “list” is shorter. I’m still trying to reach as many goals as I can. These layouts are inspirational to me…and I’d love to win! Thanks for sharing!!!
My goal is to make more cards this year to make someone’s day… and so far I *am* doing better than last year!
My goal is to watch Cal play in the Rose Bowl! Cal has not gone to the Rose Bowl since 1959 — before I was born! — and hasn’t WON a Rose Bowl since 1938. Next Year!
My goal is to share my creations with others more – make more gifts, send out more cards, etc. Also to reach my best level that hopefully inspires others.
I wanted to be a writer and I was just published last year!
One goal that I have is to get a new job so we can move to a new house in a better neighborhood. Some day….
One goal I have is to save enough money to buy a house so I can dedicate one room as an office/scrap room
One of my goals is for my husband and I to be financially sound enough to start a family and/or take a trip to England. We’re starting to realize that England might be out of our reach unless one of us gets a higher paying job, like, yesterday. But hopefully within the next three or four years we’ll be able to pay for diapers, among all our other bills.
One of my cherished goals is to be more positive! Thanks for a chance to win!
One of my goals has always been to become a Master Gardener. Gardening has always been a major part of my life. It’s my exercise, relaxation and therapy all in one!
One of my goals is to remodel my gothic victorian house, while keeping as much as possible to the victorian style. One room at a time I say, including a Craft Room inthe near future. Thanks for the chance to win.
I really want to have a child. Time is running out and nothing seems to be working so I really relate to the first layout where I feel like I’m standing looking out over a horizon wondering it if will ever happen or if this is all there is.
One of my goals is to become fitter to enable me to keep up with my 2 young children. I’m taking steps to go outdoors for walks more often to build up my stamina.
One of my cherished goals is to be able to have our upstairs rooms in order. I was doing a very good job of this and was down to just one room left (waiting on that son to move out!) and then the other son moved back home – ugh! That messed up that room too so now I have two rooms to get in order but I will just wait until they both move out which I know is not going to be anytime soon!
The first goal that comes to mind is to organize my scrap area. This goal always seems to get pushed to the bottom of the list. Maybe if I take a pic of the mess and scrap it, I’ll be more motivated to get it done!
The kit looks awesome, as usual.
One of my goals is to visit all 50 states with my children and husband.
I want to go back to school! I really have a passion for children and learning… I must find a way to make the time!
I have a goal to earn a promotion at work that will allow me to go to the next level of management. I want to change my perspective in the organization, and senior management’s perspective. I want to earn this for my family and the well being of my son.
One of my goals after turning 40 was to run a 5k. This from someone who was never a runner at all. But I took a running class and completed a 5k and a 10k that year. I wept both times when crossing the finish lines!
One of my goals is to finish writing my book. With two jobs and so much to do at home I often lack the energy or the motivation to start writing. To finally finish and get it published would be two fantastic achivements!
My goal is to sell my handmade item in a live craft show. So far I have only sold online.
My goal is to set the right prios. There are things which are not important!
I am more likely to set too many goals or have zero goals. I can’t seem to be balanced in my approach to setting goals. I would love to be more cheerful and to show I am cheerful. Somehow I just don’t tell my face that I am happy.
I had a goal to finish writing my dissertation and finally get my PhD. It took me 10 years all together and was so much more work than I ever could have imagined. It felt so incredible to accomplish something so difficult and it has changed the way I view myself and my abilities!
I have many goals, but they seemed to be pushed aside so that I may help my 3 beautiful growing children 17, 13 & 11 attain their goals. I enjoy watching them experience life daily & biggest goal is to remember to take pictures & journal this time so I can remember every detail along the way.
I want to answer a hundred questions in a notebook for my kids. They can learn so much from something so simple…and they’ll be glad to have it when they reach my age.
A few years ago my goal was to quit work so I could have more time to sepend with my son—well, my employer was willing to work with me and now I work part time — only during school hours!
My goal is to scrapbook more, to finish an album for each of the grandchildren (11). Aren’t goals fun to reach for and an inspiration to others when we obtain those goals!!!
My goal is to be migraine free so, that I may live a healthy lifestyle…seems simple enough…right?
ONE OF MY CHERISHED GOALS was to make sure my children knew how much I loved them.. I was always so worried about that… since leaving my first hubby and going through such a difficult divorce.. We all got thru to the other side, and I have since remarried, and I have to say.. now I know — they are both teenagers now.. and now… i know they do know how much I love them.. we have the best relationship with one another.. and for that I am oh so thankful. xo As a mother, that was always something I was so worried about, especially since my first hubby alienated me fr my children for a long time. Life is so much better now. xo
To live long enough to enjoy retirement for a good few years, unlike my dad, and to have enough money to enable me to travel more; New Zealand, don’t go anywhere, it’s going to be a while before I can afford to see you!
It’s been my goal since I started working to live below my means and keep my skills marketable so that I could be financially secure should the unforeseen happen. In my career thus far, four lay-offs have happened but by keeping my goal in sight throughout I’ve been able to purchase a home independently, upgrade and maintain it through all those unexpected home-ownership disasters, and still cut back in other places to have my rainy day fund. I used some of my savings to reach another goal: earn my pilot’s license in 2009. Since that time I’ve been investigating means to ownership of a plane…which sounds a little crazy to think about, a plane? In this economy? But it should be possible…a used one can be about the same as a new car (hard to believe, right?)…and I’ve discovered so many middle-class Americans who are general aviation pilots and actually do make it work: fly on a shoestring budget. These people inspire me…so that is my goal within the next year: own my own plane.
Since my mother died two years ago, and left 3 tubs of photographs, it has been my goal to get as many of them into scrapbooks as possible. I spent the first six months scanning each image and putting it on cd’s for my siblings. The pages do not have to be elaborately embellished, or with detailed journalism. Name, place, date and a clean simple look was the most important aspect of each page. So far I have completed the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s. It will be more difficult as I get into the 1990s and 2000s, as those will include many of my own family photographs and memories (of which I have been more detailed and embellished). Being retired, I have the luxury of spending 3-4 hours a day on scrapbooking. What drives me is the importance of having a permanent record (in the books themselves) of our family to leave for generations to come. What saddens me is that I had not thought of doing this when my mother was alive, and could help me identify the times, places and people in the photographs.
One of my goals is to be able to walk and run again. I had a stroke a few years back and this still haunts me. I have the walking pretty much there, but the running still gives me troubles.
I acheived 1/3 of my goals for last year, one of which was on the list for quite a few years, YEAH for me!! However the other 2 that I did not acheive are on the list for this year and I am confident that I can achieve them this year:)
Sigh…writing books for a living. I am going to get there some day!
