Isn’t it fun to come up with new designs for your scrapbooking layouts? I like to find designs that work for me and reuse them. A current favorite design of mine is based on dividing the page into thirds.
The Rule of Thirds
1/3 photos + 1/3 title and embellishments + 1/3 white space = well designed layout
Want to learn more about scrapbook page design? One lucky winner will win a spot in the following two classes:
Design Challenges, taught by Elizabeth Dillow with Stacy Julian
Fitting scrapbooking into a busy schedule can be tricky; even more so if you’re feeling a little stale, bored, or generally uninspired! Scrapbooking is about the photos and the words that make up your memories, of course, but if you lose sight of the value of the process, our beloved hobby can feel a little like a chore—and scrapbooking should never feel like a chore. If your creative process is feeling a little anemic or you simply want the accountability of a challenge to reset your creative focus, you need Design Challenges!
Scrapbooking on the Grid, taught by Wendy Smedley
You don’t have to be a magician to learn a few scrapbooking magic tricks! You don’t have to be a trained graphic designer to use proven principles of design on your scrapbook pages, either. In this class, you’ll discover how to use a grid structure to create beautiful pages for any scrapbooking style. You’ll gain an understanding of how to spot grids (even the ones that seem invisible!) and how to adapt them as a foundation for photos, product, or white space. You’ll never look at a blank piece of cardstock the same way again!
To enter this giveaway, leave a comment on this post telling us if you’ve ever taken an online scrapbook class, and if so, what you learned from it. Whether you’re inside or outside the US, your entry is welcome until Monday, April 16, 2012, at 9:00 am (MDT). Winners will be posted here.
