One of the joys of scrapbooking is combining various papers, embellishments, photos, and words in sometimes surprising ways to craft delightful works of art. By adding a little of this and a little more of that, we scrapbookers indulge in the kind of playful creation we enjoyed as children.

Mixed Media Scrapbooking, a new special issue from Creating Keepsakes magazine, encourages this spirit of childlike creative fun. Its 132 pages brim with useful how-tos and
inspiring ideas that dare you to to combine mediums both familiar and novel.

Love It Here tag by Piradee Talvanna, as seen in Mixed Media Scrapbooking, a special issue from Creating Keepsakes magazine.
We start out by exploring various scrapbooking styles and helping you identify how mixed media fit in with your own creative approach. From there we jump right in and take a look at all kinds of different mediums, from ink pads to mica flakes, zippers to glass bead gel, oilcloth to book paper. You’ll find accessible guides to using all sorts of products throughout the seven sections of Mixed Media Scrapbooking:
- Ready, Set, Color!
- Brilliant Bling
- Modeling Mediums
- In a Metal Mood
- Accessible Art Mediums
- Fabric and Sewing
- Around the House
Visit our website to peek inside the pages of Mixed Media Scrapbooking, take a quiz to discover your scrapbooking style, watch a video about creating your own resin accents, and print a handy guide to the varieties of ink available to scrapbookers. Then pick up a copy of the issue online or at your local newsstand and prepare to roll up your sleeves and get busy mixing mediums!

Love the look of this issue! My favourite mediums at the moment are gesso, spray ink and acrylic paint.
I’ve been using a lot of spray ink, paint and wood veneer lately. I’ve just gotten started in making my layouts more mixed media so this issue is right up my alley!
well, I am not much of a technique-y scrapper… but I do love to use mist to change the color of things
I saw this on the newsstand but didn’t have the funds to buy it or the time to peruse it. Would love to win it because all your publications have such great ideas.
Looks like a great book. It is fun to dabble in mixed media occasionally. Thanks for the chance to win .
I have been much of a traditional scrapbooker but I am trying to venture out of my box and give this a try so I would love to win this publication!
I didn’t think of it as a medium, but I guess I use glossy accents, stickles, glitter, ink or paint on every single thing I do. Maybe I can think of myself as a trendy mixed media artist already!! I love all your special publications, so I know it’s a winner already!
So many great ideas in this special issue. I am usually most comfortable with watercolours and paint but I am going to get braver and start trying more techniques. So many great things to see on the blog hop and so much inspiration! Thanks for sharing!
I love anything shiny, sparkly or blingy!
I really enjoy using Distress Inks to color embellishments, tags, etc.
I love using paint and watercolors!
I love ideas for using different mediums in Scrapbooking!
Love Mixed Media works! Love to work with gesso!!! Thanks for the chance to win!
tissue paper, paint and walnut stain are things I use a lot that are more for mixed media.
I am a big fan of mixed media! I love spray inks, tags, bling, chipboard, embossing and anything that makes my pages stand out from the ordinary!
I love using anything vintage, ephemera, game pieces, photo slides, etc….the unexpected makes it fun
I got a jar of texture medium in “sand” texture that I had fun playing with. I used acrylic paints to color the sand medium, then spread it over a rock-shaped cutout, and used a popsicle stick to make spiky peaks all over it. I used this on my “Tafoni” layout. (Tafoni is a lacy sandstone rock formation.) I did something similar for the title of my Canadian Geology layout. It was a lot of fun to play with.
You could also use this sand texture medium for beach layouts, say on a sand castle die cut!
Right now I am playing with something called “paper frosting” that I got at a CK convention. It is kinda like spackle (maybe it IS spackle?) in pretty pastel colors. It spreads like frosting, and dries matte. I’ve been spreading it on stamped images of cupcakes and ice cream cones and sprinkling on glitter before it dries, or decorating with glitter glue swirls after it dries.
And I have not done enough playing with shimmering mist sprays yet. So many things to play with — so little time!
Thanks for the opportunity to win.
Karen
I love fabric, ribbon and buttons, actually anything sewing. And I’m woking on getting much more comfortable using paints and bling! I would love to explore even more opportunities in mixed media! Great idea for a special issue CK!

I love incorporating new things into my scrapbooking. And I’d love to get even more ideas! I so love all your technique magazines and I can’t wait to get my hands on this one too!
I love to use “found” objects like bread ties and tags, clothing labels and price tags, and sewing. Thank you for the chance.
Very exciting!!

I love to decoupage anything like dried peas, old jewelry, fabric, napkins from a favorite restaurant. I also use modge podge to coat over thickers and any chip art to give it a nice sheen. They probably are not archival safe but by the time it starts to “decay” or “fade” will be many years from now and that will be my sons problem. LOL!!!!
I love paint, modeling paste, and gesso!
I love acrylic paints, gesso, pastels and fabric!! I also love trying anything new!!
I love working with paint, inks, glimmer mist and liquid glass.
I’ve only done some misting, distress inks and paint but would love to learn how to scrap outside my comfort zone!
I’ve only done some misting, distress inks and paint but would love to learn how to scrap outside my comfort zone!
I use paint, fabric, inks, and glitters. They work perfectly on all of my layouts.
I like paints and inks and a bit of misting. Definitely need to try more!
My newest medium is Stickles…how did it take me so long to discover them. They add just the right amount of sparkle. I’d love to get your special issue to catch up on all the other great new fun things to try. Thanks for the chance to win!
I could use the ideas in this special issue. I use mostly ink, stitching and buttons.
This looks like such a fun issue! I’m afraid of mists. I’ve messed up too many pages with it:) Lately I’ve been loving burlap and crepe paper for my pages.
I use any medium that’s safe to use in my scrapbooks! Its fun to experiment.
More ideas would be fantastic
Sounds right up my alley! Excited to try something new.
I’m fixated on inks and adding stitching to my pages. Lacking a bit of confidence in branching into new areas, so would love to see the special issue
Hmmm.. Mediums (media?) I use currently are certainly “mixed” … Paper, paint, glitter, pencil, ink … Plus wire, beads, gems, vintage items, fabric ( felt and others ), upcycled trash ( toilet paper rolls, coffee liners, cupcake liners, aluminum foil, waxed paper, acetate, cardboard and dryer lint, to name a few ).
I’d like to win a copy of your magazine, or better, two … One to share with my blog readers
Fondly,
Ellen – CardMonkey
I love buttons, distress inks and acetate. I am looking forward to getting into more digital and die cuts. This issue looks awesome!!!

Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy of the new book!
