Cardstock, cardstock, who’s got the cardstock? Discount Cardstock, that’s who, and we are super excited and honored to be guest blogging here on the Creating Keepsakes blog today! We love scrapbooking with cardstock, and today we’re sharing a fun scrapbooking project that shows you don’t always have to use designer papers in your scrapbook layouts.

Kurt’s Camaro by Trudy Sjolander for Discount Cardstock. Supplies: Cardstock: Discount Cardstock; Stamp: Stampers Anonymous; Ink and paint: Ranger Industries; Ribbon: Really Reasonable Ribbon; Glitter: Art Glitter; Chipboard: Want2Scrap; Embossing folder: Provo Craft; Adhesive: Diamond Glaze and Scor-Pal; Other: pen.

With the vast assortment of cardstock colors, textures, and weights available at Discount Cardstock, you are sure to always find exactly what you need to perfectly match or complement any photo. By pulling colors from your photos and adding multiple mats, you can carry the color theme across the entire piece.

I used Daffodil 65# to match the yellow on Kurt’s car and Morning Glory Blue 65# to match the color of his jeans, while Posh Black Satin Sparkle 105# perfectly complements the tires.

We can’t forget the chrome on the car. I used Silver Mirri to represent it and added some extra dimension by embossing it with a diamond plate pattern.

Two of the corners have some torn pieces of Intense Kiwi Prismatic 70# which draws out the color of the leaves. Some stamping, wall patch fabric, and acrylic paint splatters add texture and interest. I should also mention that I chose a very heavyweight cardstock (130# 12×12 Brilliant White) for the base because it holds up quite nicely to all of my mixed media embellishing.

I added some glittered chipboard letters for the title, some simple handwritten journaling, and a few doodles around the edges, and then finished it off with a piece of ribbon that looks a little like the white stripe markings on a road.

Without using a even scrap of patterned paper, I created a layout that’s anything but plain.
