We’ve had great response to the recent announcement that Creating Keepsakes is now available for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch – along with one question that has been asked several times: How do we access it? Hopefully, these quick-start steps will help.
UPDATE: August 20, 2012: We’re hearing back from many of you that the app is not recognizing your existing print/online subscription information. We’re looking into it, and will let everyone know what’s going on as soon as we have answers. Unfortunately, even best efforts sometimes run into unexpected snags – even when it seemed like everything was good-to-go. We apologize, and ask for your patience!
Accessing Creating Keepsakes for the iPad
1) After the app loads, the icon will become active on your screen. Tap to open it.
2) The first time you launch the app, you’ll be given the option to turn on “Push” notifications to allow Creating Keepsakes to receive sounds, alerts, and badges. If you choose to do this, the app will take you to your device’s Settings panel. If you choose not to do this, you’ll continue to the main screen.
3) At the bottom of the window, tap the “Catalog” button to pre-load the available issues. At this point, you should see several magazine covers, but the issues themselves are not yet loaded onto your device.
4) Tap an issue to open it. If you haven’t already purchased a subscription to the app, a red bar with the words “Subscription Available” will appear across the top of the cover. You can tap that bar now to subscribe.
4) If you aren’t ready to subscribe yet, when you tap on the issue cover, options to “Read” or “Download” will appear. The first time you open an issue, choose “Download;” once the issue is downloaded to your device, you’ll only see the “Read” option.
- If you have an active subscription, the issue will download and you can simply swipe the pages to read it.
- If you do not yet have an active subscription, you can choose to preview a few pages free of charge.
When you are finished reading, tap in the area near the top or bottom of the screen to open the menu. The “My Library” button at the top of the screen will take you out of the issue. Options at the bottom of the screen allow you to navigate through the issue, share it with friends on Facebook and Twitter, and more.
The app edition is very new and very exciting for us here at Creating Keepsakes. As time goes on, we’ll try to provide more (and better!) answers to your many questions. In the meantime, thanks for joining us in this adventure!

Android please
The Facebook post told is if you were a paid subscriber to the print version this was free. However, none of us can figure out how to get it free. I called the customer service yesterday, no one could help me. They took my name and number, no one called me back today.
android, please!
I love being able to read CK on my I-PAD!!
What a joke! I can log into their website with no problem. When I try to log in to the app it won’t recognize my username or my email address. Don’t you think they should have tested this app out before releasing it?
I’m having the same issue as Alicia. Help, please!
I too love the idea of the app for print subscribers, but I am also having trouble logging in to the app because it won’t recognize my username and password! Isn’t it the same as the CK website??
When you download the App it assumes you make your purchases from the App Store. If you purchased your digital subscription from another “vendor” then you won’t have access to it from inside the App depending on how Creating Keepsakes has set up the accounts with Apple. It could be that with the launch of the App being so new they may need to clarify access with previously purchased subscriptions with Apple and it could just be a matter of time before you will be able to access your magazine through Newsstand on Apple devices. All present issues and subscriptions should be easy to access and download after purchasing from the AppStore.
An Android app would be awesome too! Pretty please?
Yes, Android, please! Apple is not the only game in town. I could take it on my tablet instead of a ton of magazines. And please make it easy for subscribers to just use. Thank you!
Please make the app available on android!

I too am a subscriber to the print version and having the mag on my ipad would be handy especially when out on crop days. Can someone tell me how I go about being able to read this on my ipad as well as I can’t see why we should have to pay for a print and ipad version separately.
Android! Please!
Android for me, too!!
hope you’ll include the CK special issues in your store app
I want to download this app to my iPad but have not been convinced that it’s working correctly yet by what I’ve read so far. Any progress on fixing the bugs? I am a current subscriber to the regular mailed CK mag. I would love to enjoy this benefit on my iPad but certainly don’t want to pay again…and won’t.
Just call customer service number and tell them you would like to set up to receive subscription digitally and they will set up and give u password. Takes about 15 minutes before you are able to access after setup.
