Weekly Warm-Up: Tips to Scrapbook with Bling

Diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, but luckily there are many more versatile (and less expensive) ways to give your scrapbooking layouts some sparkle. One of the wonderful things about using bling to add that extra “oomph” to your page is that your options are almost limitless—sequins, rhinestones, metallic thread, foil, glitter ink, glitter paint, glitter glue, glitter paper, and gem stick pins (to name a few) are available in all sorts of shapes and colors, making it easy to find bling that perfectly accents your layout.

For some creative ideas on how to use bling to liven up your layouts, check out the following tips.

Tip #1: Say it with sparkle. Glitter letters (whether you use glitter stickers or add your own glitter to chipboard) are a fun way to title your layouts. Try using glitter letters on just one word to really make your title pop, like Amy Wheeler did in her layout, or use glitter letters in neutral colors for a softer look, like Jess Mutty did in “Mr. Personality.”

Tip #2: Be subtle. Bling doesn’t have to steal the show—Norine Borys’ delicate scattering of gems and rhinestones adds a soft, elegant touch to her wedding layout.
