Creativity Heals: Making Every Day a Happy Day

Hi everyone, Piradee Talvanna here today to share a little home decor project I created with my scrapbook supplies to help me reflect and get through those tougher days.  As much as I wish that every day could be cheery and bright, that’s not always the case. It’s those days that a little motivation can go a long way.

And it’s on one of those not-so-cheery-and-bright days that I created this scrapbook layout, which I then framed and hung on my wall. It helps me focus on certain key words—rather than pictures—to help remind me the power of attitude. We all encounter challenges every day, and it’s what we choose to do and learn from that makes us stronger.

This inspirational piece represents a series of beliefs important to me:

  • We make our own choices
  • We choose to be happy (or sad)
  • We choose whether to let change drives us or we drive the change
  • We choose to believe that we can (nothing is impossible as long as we believe)
  • We choose to be fearless or accept things as they are
  • We choose whether to make this day and every day a  happy day

A glance at this wall-hanging reminds me to reexamine my situation, but I also find that the act of creating a home decor piece featuring words or quotes also helps me de-stress in these situations. I love the creative process, and it’s wonderful that the product I create also acts as a little reminder for tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by and letting me share my creative process. Scrapbooking helps me get through those tough days, and I get to create something beautiful along the way. I hope you’ll spend some time thinking about how creativity can heal you. Make every day a happy day!

I love this post Piradee and can completely relate to the power of creativity in healing the heart and soul. I lost an older sister suddenly last year and have been working through the grief and healing in the pages of my creations. It is helping my niece and nephew to heal as well, looking at pictures of them with their momma and reading the journaling about her and about them, it puts a smile back on their faces…and on mine. Thank you again for this post and inspiration!
    Take care you.
Here’s to brighter days ahead and moving forward.

  2. Piradee, I really enjoyed this post and your project! My Mind’s Eye Happy Day is one of my fave collections, AND I was inspired that your piece had no photos! Great idea! Thank you for sharing a personal look at your beliefs and how papercrafting can be like therapy! Roberta

What a wonderful idea. I never thought about doing something like that but now that you have and shared it with us I think that I will be doing something similar. It always helps to have a reminder on tough days and to remember to count our blessings. Thank you so much for sharing this!
