Making the Most of a Scrapbooking Kit

I love working with scrapbooking kits! One of the biggest reasons I enjoy kits is that all of the guesswork has been done for me. The scrapbook products are picked out and coordinate so nicely together, so it saves me the time of digging around for pattern papers, cardstock, alphas, and embellishments. And by limiting myself to what’s in the kit, I take away that feeling that “I can find something that will work better,” and just learn to go with what’s in front of me.

It’s All in the Details Scrapbook Kit

For this layout, I used the It’s All in the Details scrapbook kit featured on page 85 of the September/October 2012 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine (both the kit and the issue are available for purchase from the Creating Keepsakes online store).

This kit is packed with inspiring products from American Crafts, Bazzill Basics Paper, Crate Paper, Studio Calico and more. It comes complete with color instructions to create two 12″ x 12″ layouts, but for this blog article I created an alternate layout using the same materials.

I started with the two sheets of patterned paper from Crate Paper that had journaling blocks and tags on them. I simply began cutting all of the pieces apart from each sheet, and then picked out an assortment that I thought would work together on my page.

A few of the ones that I choose to use had a travel theme to them, so I thought I would scrap a few photos from trips that I have taken to teach at CKC events in the last year.

I arranged my photos, journaling blocks, and tags on the page in a fun collage, and then filled in the empty spaces with some of the smaller tags from American Crafts and the Crate Paper chipboard accents. I also layered lots of the embellishments onto the tags and journaling blocks.

I love how all of the different elements that came in the It’s All in the Details kit pulled together so nicely to make this layout. I highly recommend this kit to any scrapbooker—you’ll definitely enjoy it! Oh, and by the way, Creating Keepsakes has quite a few other scrapbooking kits available in the online store. (I know, enabler alert, right?)
