Using Numbers as Inspiration for Scrapbooking!

Dream Teamer, Kim Watson

Numbers fill every aspect of our lives, and give us inexhaustible opportunities for scrapbooking ideas & page themes. After reading the ‘Got Your Number’ feature from the Sept/Oct 2012 issue of Creating Keepsakes magazine, I thought I’d give ‘numbers’ a bash.

My page focusing on our 10th wedding anniversary, is a milestone memory for us that I really wanted to remember.

10 years by Kim Watson. Supplies: Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned paper: Cosmo Cricket and Studio Calico; Die cuts accents and stickers: American Crafts; Flair buttons: Omorlu; Peg: Pebbles; Metal number: Tim Holtz; Decorative tape: My Mind’s Eye; Wood veneer: Studio Calico; Pens: Zig; Adhesives: 3L, I Love to Create, and Tombow; Tools: Die cutting machine: Silhouette America; Trimmer, mat, and scissors: Fiskars America; Knife: X-acto; Printer & paper: Hewlett-Packard; Other: Tag and thread.

NOTE: All supplies from Cocoa Daisy kit.

I used numbers in a couple of ways on my page. This large metal 2 placed above the Me & You Flare buttons, symbolizes our relationship.

Using my Silhouette I cut out a few number 10′s around the page, then stuck white cardstock behind the cut outs for a subtle background design. An alternative to a die- cutting machine is doing it by hand; tracing the numbers from old alpha packaging and cutting them out with an X-acto knife.

Adding a number to a conversational title in a different font, is a super way of getting a clear message across to your readers.

Lastly I included a list of short words that capture the essence of why we think our marriage works so well, without overwhelming the reader with a lot of journaling.

I hope this page has inspired you to try a number theme on your next scrapbook project.

Remember to grab the free number template journaling downloads available at ck.com. And be sure to stop by our contest page to enter the Got Your Number sweepstakes!

Have a super day!

~Kim
