Weekly Wednesday Download!

Dream Team Member Laina Lamb

In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, today’s post is all about Love! Because of my busy schedule, most of the pages I create are based around important events. Birthdays, vacations, school, etc. Every once in a while I have to remind myself to slow down and reflect. Scrapbook pages that are based around life’s reflections are a great way to share your thoughts and feelings with your family. They also can help you to remember to be thankful for what you have or where you have come in life.

If you would like to follow along and create this page I’ve included a sketch for you to follow. I tend to use 4×6 photos on my pages because they are easy to print, grab and go!

If you own an electronic cutting machine, you can download the SVG version of my page title, arrow and heart background. I also included the PNG version for those who do digital pages. Download the files here!

I used another trick this month to create my page title. I cut my arrow shaped base first in gray without the letters. I cut a second gray border with the letter shapes included. I adhered both together with the plain arrow behind.

Download the SVG file and PNG files of the heart border here!

I then cut my letters out of flocked or fuzzy adhesive vinyl. Flocked vinyl or paper is a great way to add texture and depth to your Diecuts. Adding thin vinyl shapes to a page can be tricky because the material is so thin and doesn’t hold its shape like cardstock does. My double cut arrow with the letters cut out forms a guide for me to place my vinyl letters into. The guide makes it quick and easy!

Thanks for stopping by! I will be back next month with more cutting files and some printables as well!

I have been unsuccessful at downloading the SVG. I’m a new owner of a Silhouette Cameo and must be doing something wrong. When I click download, what do I do next and where do I save them?

Elizabeth – when you follow the links to the download area and click on the links for the svg, a new window will open. Right click on the screen and right click to “save image”. This will save the SVG to a spot on your computer that you choose. (The svgs are hard to see on screen, but I assure you they are there. The lines are thin so that the Studio Software will recognize them as cut lines).
To open a SVG in Studio you will the need the Designer Edition. Simply launch Studio>File>Open>Select SVG from File Type at Bottom>Navigate to where you saved the SVG>Open.
If you don’t own the Designer Edition you can use the PNG version and convert. Ali Edwards has a great tutorial on how to do this here:

I thought I was pretty familiar with different graphics formats, but have not heard of SVG. Is it compatible with Photoshop Elements or the Windows photo printer?
