Chalkboard Trend: Dream Team Member Laina Lamb

Chalkboard Art is quite the rage these days. Everywhere I look I see beautiful chalkboard art created by talented artists. Software allows us to do so many new things with visual art but in my opinion, will never replace the art of making something by hand.

My favorite chalkboard artist is Dana Tanamachi.

Dana is known around the world for her amazing pieces featured in restaurants, hotels, posters and magazine covers. Wouldn’t you just love to have her visit your home and create a mural for your house?

Another favorite is CJ Hughes. His art has been featured in Print and Television as well. CJ has an Etsy shop and is available for custom projects. His work makes me want to get married all over again with new invites and prints!

Because we all can’t be gifted letter artists like those above, here are a few easy ways to join the chalkboard trend yourself.

New Products

Many of our favorite companies have incorporated the Chalkboard trend in their products.

Color Me Happy from Glitz Design

Echo Park – Today’s Story Collection

Pebbles Inc – Chalkboard Stickers

Freckled Fawn – Chalkboard Washi Tape

Grab these free printable tags from Ellinee. Great for gifts, cards and more.

The talented Rhonna Farrer’s shop is loaded with amazing Printable Art for Digital and Hybrid Projects.

Chalkboard Journaling Cards that you can customize with your own type to can be found at the Two Peas Digital shop.

Use Your Stamps

Using your stamp stash is a great way to create chalkboard graphics. Paper Crafts Go-To Gal Betsy Veldman created a step by step tutorial on her blog.

Erin from How to Nest for Less shows us step by step on her blog how to create Chalkboard art in Photoshop.

Jenni from the Blog has a great roundup of Chalkboard fonts on her blog. The best part – The fonts are free for personal use!

Another quick and easy option is to use this online Chalkboard Generator. Simply type in your message, select a font and the site builds the image for you!

I hope these examples, links and tutorials inspire you to try the Chalkboard trend in your house, scrapbook pages and more!
