X Mark’s the Spot

Dream Team Member, Kim Watson

Have you heard that the July/August 2013 digital edition of Creating Keepsakes magazine is out? And it is awesome!

When reading through it the other day, one of the articles really caught my eye: X marks the Spot. Discover mapping Possibilities.

MAPS!!

I love maps, whomever came up with the idea needs a medal!

Being super trendy these days, I love how maps are being crafted into all areas of life, from the craft room, to art, to functional furniture and much more.

Have you heard of the artist Claire Brewster or Matthew Cusik, Oliver Jeffers? Three artists who incorporate maps into their art…prepare to be blown away!

I find them so inspiring!

We might not be able to create amazing art like they did but there are some fabulous other ideas incorporating maps into our everyday life.

This is a page I made for the X Marks the Spot article, using maps in the form of a big world stamp from Cocoa Daisy kits, and itty bitty paper aeroplane accents made from map paper.

And for some more fun from the internet which might spark a new craft project, or be used in a current one.

How about some map wall art from Fontmap. The great thing is they have maps of all continents or states from all over the world.

I am a long term subscriber to your magazine (since 2006). I have been very disappointed by the last two issues including July/August. The magazines are so thin and lacking in content that they are almost useless. Unless the quantity and quality of content improves fast, I will not be renewing my subscription. What is going on with your team?
