How did your final merit badge projects work out? What was your favorite merit badge this week? Which challenged you the most?
We hope you’ve had a great week, been inspired, tried new things, and made lots of layouts. We’ve had fun sharing these activities with you as well as the downloads and recipes.
Now, for the last two campers of the day. For the Photography merit badge, the camper of the day is….
The camper of the day for the Getting to Know You merit badge is….
Now that we have campers of the day for each merit badge we’ll be posting all of them for you and your friends to vote on which will be featured in the January/February 2014 Readers Gallery portion of the magazine. Make sure you check back on Monday for the location and dates to vote.
We’re going to wrap up the week with my all-time favorite Dutch Oven recipe – Cobbler. This recipe is quick, requires very few ingredients, and smells DIVINE when it is cooking. Plus, you can use any fruit and cake mix combination you want. I recommend Cherry or Raspberry pie filling and chocolate cake mix – it is delightful! Also, you can make this at home in the oven, no need to wait to go camping.
Dutch Oven Peach Cobbler
- 2 cans, sliced peaches
- 1 box of yellow cake mix
- 12 oz 7UP
- Ground cinnamon
- Drain one can of peaches – or don’t if you like it juicier.
- Add peaches of both cans to the oven
- Dump in the cake mix and level it
- Pour 7UP on top as evenly as possible
- Sprinkle the cinnamon on top
- Close the lid, place the oven on a small bed of coals, add more coals on top of the lid. Don’t go crazy, you don’t have to bury it.
- Let it cook for 45 minutes
Well campers, that completes our CK Summer Camp for 2013. Thanks so much for being part of this fun week. Have a great rest of your weekend and we’ll see you around the online world.
