Hi! Gretchen here with you this morning! Have you seen the newest special issue from Creating Keepsakes?

This one is “All about Albums” and it is packed full of ideas for full-sized albums like 12×12 and 8 ½ x 11, interesting and unique mini albums, and even clever do-it-yourself albums that you might not have considered before!

I want to share with you a more in-depth look at one of the albums I have in this issue.

13-1-6x6-mini-albumwebThis is a 6×6 2-ring binder album from American Crafts. I am using this album to keep a record of all the half marathons I have run. I usually do a 12×12 layout for each of the half marathons also. On the 12×12 pages I include all the pictures I took and any ephemera I collected from the event. In this mini album, though, I am sticking to the basics. I use just a single picture per 2-page spread and include the “who, what, when, where, & my finishing time” of the race. Since this is a 2-ring binder album, the pages are individual page protectors. I love that I can keep adding pages to this album as I want! Secretly I want to use this album to show my kids in 20 years that I used to be cool & active!

I am bad about saving everything. I have a shoebox full of race numbers that I have kept from all the 5Ks, half marathons, bike races, etc. that I have ever done. A lot of times these numbers end up on the 12×12 layouts that I do, but not all the time because that shoebox is still pretty full! So I decided to put a couple of the numbers to good use on the inside covers of this album.

I put this page at the very beginning of the album as kind of a “title page”.

Supplies: Cardstock: Die Cuts With a View; Patterned paper: Studio Calico; Die cuts: Chic Tags; Decorative tape: Bella Blvd; Stickers: Home Depot; Font: Courier New; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.

Here are a some additional pages in the album that you don’t see in the special issue.

Cardstock: Hobby Lobby; Patterned Paper: Bella Blvd; Pen: American Crafts; Other: Chipboard and patterned paper.

I tried to create these pages as I went along so I did not ever get too far behind. Because of this I have used a variety of different products from a lot of different manufacturers. I did try to use a similar design on the pages to keep some continuity to the album.

Supplies: Cardstock: Die Cuts with a View; Patterned paper: American Crafts, Bella Blvd, Cosmo Cricket, and Lilybee Designs Die cut machine and dies: Sizzix (stars, photo corners)Pen: Creative Memories; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Other: Staples and stickers.

Supplies: Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Paper; Patterned paper: Bella Blvd and Crate Paper; Stickers: Bella Blvd and Jenni Bowlin Studios; Brads: American Crafts and Echo Park Paper Co.; Chipboard: Bella Blvd; Pen: Creative Memories; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Font: Courier New.

This is the most recent page I have added to the album!

Supplies: Patterned paper: Die Cuts with a View and Elle’s Studio; Die Cuts: Bella Blvd and Elle’s Studio; Chipboard: BasicGrey; Adhesive: Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L; Font: Courier New; Other: staples.

And album like this is a great way to use a 6×6 paper pad!

Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Have a great day!

  1. Love this, I use a small little album/note book to keep ideas for cards & scrapbook pages in one section, verses & sayings in another, a section with different types of cards and last a list of inks, markers & dies to help keep me from purchasing duplicates.
