I was flipping through Mixed Media Scrapbooking Vol. 2 the other day enjoying the wonderful layouts. It’s interesting to peruse through as a reader after everything has been produced and printed. I finally get to look at the magazine from my point of view and find things that I’d like to recreate. Initially I would have said that I’m not much of a mixed media crafter. However, after reading through the magazine, I realized that I’m definitely an altered art kind of crafter. I like to take an element and change it up for my projects.
One of my favorite techniques found in Mixed Media Scrapbooking Vol. 2 is using modeling paste to unite mismatched elements found on The Best Day layout on p. 26. I love how Rita Barakat altered her left over chip board letter stickers with gesso, pigment sticks, and modeling paste to create a fun cohesive and unique look to her title.
Here’s how she did it.
This is definitely something I will have to try.
P.S. What’s your favorite mixed media technique? Leave a comment by midnight MT Monday, September 23 and I will pick a winner to receive a copy of the Mixed Media Scrapbooking Vol. 2 issue.
