I love a good challenge. It stretches my skills, gets me out of a rut, and gives me an excuse to play. So that’s what we’re doing for you – providing an excuse or reason to create. Sketches are one of my favorite tools when creating. It provides a roadmap for my project but lets me express my creativity. Think of when you travel to a new city, you use a map to get you to your destination (well, if you don’t want to get lost you do). That map tells you where to turn, the crossroads, and miles. It doesn’t tell you what to see or do or where to eat once you get there.

A sketch is much the same. It tells you where to place items like your title, photos, and embellishments, but it doesn’t specify what the photos are about, the kind of embellishment, or the theme to your layout. You get to decide all that. And honestly, that’s the fun part.

So join the fun and participate in the Creating Keepsakes Sketch Challenge. The sketch is brand new – from our November/December 2013 issue and the challenge starts at 12:01 am MT October 9, 2013 and ends at midnight MT October 13, 2013. Plus, we’re randomly choosing two people from the submissions to win three 12×12 paper pads from Die Cuts With a View. To submit, go to the Flickr group, join the group, and upload a photo of your layout. Easy peesy!

Have fun creating!
