Photo Trick: Frame Your Subjects

Are you attending night time sporting events? Have a BBQ or marshmallow roast planned for the weekend? Or maybe you’re looking for a different take on your Halloween photos this year? Try framing your subjects using a flashlight – it’s easy and lots of fun!

Frame your subjects using flashlights. Photo by Jamie Harper.

This photo trick can be used with point-and-shoot cameras or DSLR. For point-and-shoot, set the camera to the Firework setting or another night setting. For DSLR, here’s what settings Jamie used that worked for her: Mode: Manual (M) | F-stop: 5.6 | Shutter speed: 8.0 sec. | ISO: 100. You can find steps to recreate this look on the Creating Keepsakes web site.

Once your camera is ready to go, grab the flashlights and have fun!
