One of the most well-known tools for jump starting a layout is the sketch. Sketches can help with photo, title, and journaling placement; but more importantly, they can get you over the staring-at-the-blank-page-for-hours-wondering-where-to-start hump. Remember, a sketch is a tool to get you started. The fun comes when you add your personality and personal touches to liven up that page.
