When you find a layout that you love, how do you make it your own? How do you take something that inspires you and use it for your photos?

Jodi Sanford fell in love with the design of JJ Sobey’s “Calm Before the Storm” layout (from Mixed Media, Vol. 1), but she wanted to use the page to tell the bright, bubbly story of her daughter having a blast at the playground. So, she switched JJ’s cool, masculine browns and greens for a warm, energetic rainbow of colors that perfectly highlights the fun and excitement of the day.

Jodi also made JJ’s design work for her by using circles as a recurring shape instead of stars. This echoes the circular slides in Jodi’s photos, adding to the whimsy of her page.
