Add some summer magic to your layouts without encroaching on vacation time. Each of the accents below can be made in 10 minutes or less. Susan Weinroth created her Sun and Waves layout for Scrapbooking Tips & Tricks: Summer Fun & Travel with heat embossed goldfish, a felt sun, and stamped fish on canvas.
Create the look:
To create glossy accents, cut out summer themed shapes from colored cardstock and heat emboss them using embossing powder in the same color.
Hint: Tiny die cuts can be tricky to emboss. Simplify the process by embossing an entire piece of cardstock before cutting out the shapes you want to use.
To make a cute sunshine accent, trim two circles from felt, leaving one larger than the other. Stitch them together and trim the edge with pinking shears. Sew on buttons.
Doodles make great accents! Draw or stamp a small image or sentiment onto canvas. Trim and fray the edges and tuck your accent into the side of the page.
